An arrangement for detection of the amount of material in a supply container of a machine for application of material to a field comprises a data entry device for receiving fill level data concerning an amount of material present in the supply container at a specific time point and an outflow sensor for detection of the amount of material that has flowed out of the supply container. A computer device connected to the data entry device and outflow sensor, the computing device is programmed to calculate the current amount of material in the supply container using the obtained fill level data and the signals of the outflow sensor obtained after the specific time point, and to issue a warning signal if the amount of material in the supply container goes below a predetermined level.

A crop baler comprises a frame, a pressing chamber for crop, into which a stuffer can be introduced in order to compress the crop into a bale, a drive for producing a reciprocating movement of the stuffer, and a countermass coupled to the drive and configured to move in a counteracting direction to the movement of the stuffer, the countermass at least approximately compensates movement of the frame induced by the reciprocating mass of the stuffer and the drive unit thereof due to inertia. Alternatively or additionally, a flywheel mass of the drive can have a variable moment of inertia to similarly compensate movement of the frame induced by the reciprocating mass of the stuffer.

A planter row unit is positioned so a gauge wheel and an opener are in a known position relative to one another. A planting depth actuator that travels along an extent of travel to change a relationship between the gauge wheel and opener is positioned at one end of its extent of travel, out of engagement with a gauge wheel arm and is then moved to an engagement position where it engages the gauge wheel arm. The location of the engagement position is identified as a calibration point.

Crop residues are deposited in a windrow in the field. A controller operably controls an actuator influencing the propulsion speed or driving direction of the chassis or the sprayer boom for reducing an oscillation of the sprayer boom in the forward direction. The controller triggers the actuator in response to a detected or expected oscillation of the boom due to a resulting change of speed or travel direction of the chassis or sprayer boom. An oscillation in an opposite phase to the detected or expected oscillation of the sprayer boom is induced in the sprayer boom adapted to lead to the reduction or cancellation of the oscillation of the sprayer boom.
