A technique facilitates improved control over inflowing fluids with respect to, for example, a screen assembly or screen assemblies of a tubing string deployed in a wellbore. The improved control may be provided by at least one inflow control device comprising a housing defining a chamber having a first end and a second end through which fluid may flow. Additionally, the inflow control device comprises at least one inlet passage disposed at the first end and having a contour which provides a desired effect on the inflowing fluid according to the type of fluid, e.g. according to the viscosity of the fluid. The contour may comprise an expanding cross-sectional area, e.g. a cone or other expanding shape. In some embodiments, the entrance of the inlet passage may have a rounded edge to, for example, create an initially decreasing and then increasing cross-sectional area along the inlet passage.

Autonomous inflow control device

Reservoir sweep efficiency includes obtaining fluid front arrival times for streamlines in a reservoir. A wellbore is partitioned into independent production zones, and a target flow rate is allocated to each of the independent production zones based on the fluid front arrival times. Partition choke parameters complying with the target flow rates are allocated to generate a completion design, which is presented.

Method and system for generating a completion design using a streamline model

A technique includes determining a streamline field in a geologic region that contains a wellbore, based at least in part on a reservoir model of the region. The streamline field includes streamlines that intersect a fluid contact of interest in the region and intersect the wellbore. The technique includes determining arrival times at points along the wellbore associated with the fluid contact boundary of interest based at least in part on fluid travel for the boundary being constrained to occur along the streamlines; and determining partitions associated with isolated completion zones based at least in part on the determined arrival times.

Time of arrival-based well partitioning and flow control

A technique facilitates selection of optimum flow control valve settings to improve a desired objective function in a multizone well having zonal isolation. A network of flow control valves is provided in a completion network disposed along isolated well zones of at least one lateral bore of the multizone well. Data is acquired from downhole in the multizone well and processed on processor system modules which may be used in selected combinations. Examples of such modules comprise completion network modules, deconvolution modules, optimization modules, and/or inflow-outflow modules. The modules are designed to process the collected data in a manner which facilitates adjustment of the flow control valve settings in the network of flow control valves to improve the desired objective function.

Optimum flow control valve setting system and procedure

Flow balancing includes selecting, for each down hole flow control valve of a well, a transformed well performance curve corresponding to a first down hole flow control valve pressure to obtain transformed well performance curves. The well includes a lateral including the down hole flow control valves. Using a constraint set that includes a balancing condition for the lateral, a network optimization analysis is performed on the transformed well performance curves to generate a set of choke positions corresponding to each down hole flow control valve. Network modeling of the well is performed based on the set of choke positions to obtain a second down hole flow control valve pressure for each down hole flow control valve. Using the set of choke positions, a field operation is performed for the well based on the second down hole flow control valve pressure being within a threshold difference of the first down hole flow control valve pressure for each down hole flow control valve.
