A base plate for magnetic disk drives is provided that includes a hooked protrusion integrated therein between adjacent spindle motor coils. The cross-over wires that span between adjacent coils are secured by the hooked protrusions, thereby optimizing coil height and reducing manufacturing steps. The hook-like protrusions of one embodiment of the present invention are preferably stamped into the base plate.

Support structure with integral retainer tabs for use in spindle motor wire routing

A computer disk drive assembly is provided having a vibration damper for reducing transducer/track misregistration errors and acoustical noise in a computer disk drive having a rotating shaft. The disk drive generally includes a flexible interconnection between a base assembly and a bearing assembly, in combination with a rigid interconnection between the base assembly and the bearing assembly. By attenuating the amplitude of vibrations in the disk drive, the present invention allows for increased track densities and produces less acoustical noise than undamped disk drives.

Disk drive rocking mode vibration damper

A conductive lock washer for safely dissipating electrostatic charge which builds up on a disk surface without discharge across the head/dish gap. The lock washer, including a series of alternating inner and outer tabs, acts to reduce torque on the spindle washer damper and hoop stress on the washer itself, while still creating a conductive pathway to the top cover of the hard drive assembly.
