The invention relates to a brake pistonfor a brake caliperof a disk brake, which is produced using working processes from a metallic material, in particular from a flat metal sheet, and is formed in one piece as a unilaterally open pot with a piston longitudinal axis A, with a piston walland with a piston head. There is a need for robust and light as well as alternatively constructed, efficiently producible and well guided brake pistons. The object is achieved firstly in principle on the basis of a cup-shapedly worked brake piston blank, in that at least one locally defined, i.e. partially cold-upset or partially ironed, cylindrical piston wall portion is present with a partially deformed piston wallwhich is configured in adaptively modified manner by plastic material deformation by means of material redistribution (flow) including strain-hardening of its piston wall thickness of sl&#x2212;x.

A multi-part piston for a brake saddle of a hydraulically and/or mechanically and/or electromechanically actuated disk brake is described herein. The piston is a pot open on one side and including a base and a wall attached thereto in one piece. The base can be impinged by brake pressure coming from the inside of the pot so that an outward-facing abutting surface of the base can be pressed against a brake lining. The inside of the pot receives at least one pressure piece associated with a parking brake mechanism. For simplified manufacture in the form of a modular piston system for use in various applications, it is proposed that the pressure piece and the base comprise conical surfaces facing one another for transferring braking pressure.

The present invention relates to a hydraulic piston and a process for its surface treatment in order to improve above all the wear resistance and corrosion resistance at the surface of the piston. The present invention relates to a piston for a hydraulic pressure chamber, especially a piston bore of a spot-type disc brake, wherein the piston is configured as a bowl-shaped hollow cylinder that is open on one side and made from a metal blank of a constant wall thickness in a forming operation. The piston has a bottom to which hydraulic pressure is applicable and a piston wall which, at its open end, passes over into a rim that has a circular abutment surface. Especially in view of conventional cast pistons, an object of the present invention is related to providing a piston which permits being manufactured by means of a simple forming operation, which can be configured as light as possible and with low expenditure in material, without limiting the stress capacity of the piston. This object is achieved in that the piston includes at least one portion with a fold shaping, where the thickness of the piston wall or of the bottom is increased compared to the thickness of the remaining piston wall or of the bottom and corresponds to several times the wall thickness of the metal blank. As a result, the piston is favorably reinforced only in areas of high stress.
