Press jacket and method for the production thereof

The invention provides a press roller, having a roller jacket made of plastic material, for treating a web of paper, board, tissue or another fibrous material in a machine for the manufacturing and/or finishing thereof. The aim of the invention is to enlarge the application fields of the press roller. Said aim is achieved, whereby the outer surface of the roller jacket is at least partially provided with a temperature-resistant protective layer and/or covering.

Press roller

The invention relates to a roll cover for treating a paper, cardboard, tissue or other fibrous web in a machine for manufacturing and/or converting them, comprising one or more plastic layers, of which at least one is of compressible configuration, and at least one carrier element in the form of a woven fabric, laid scrim or the like. Here, the loading of the support structure is intended to be reduced by at least one carrier element being embedded into a compressible plastic layer.

Roll cover

A flexible press cover which has an additional strengthening element in at least one of its two end regions. As a result, in the end region, the tensile strength and the tensile rigidity in the circumferential direction are increased with respect to that hitherto known in such a way that it is no longer necessary to clamp the press cover end region in between two components. Instead, the press cover according to the present invention is suitable to be fixed to the outer circumferential surface of a rotatable supporting element belonging to the cover carrying disk without the aid of an outer ring, a clamping band, clamping filament or the like. In the most beneficial case, the arrangement for fixing the press cover to the aforementioned supporting element is completely free of any kind of fixing elements which would be associated with the cover outer surface.

The present invention is directed to a roll cover for a calender or press roll for treating a material web. The roll cover includes a layer of elastomeric material having filaments running approximately longitudinally with respect to a web run direction and transversely to the web run direction embedded for reinforcement, and at least one layer of additional reinforcing filaments embedded in at least some sections of the elastomeric layer. The additional reinforcing filaments run at an angle between 20&#xb0; and 70&#xb0; with respect to the web run direction. The layer is arranged to form roll ends connectable to a roll axle. Process for manufacturing a roll press jacket, wherein the roll press jacket includes a hollow cylindrical sleeve made of an castable elastomeric material containing at least one crystallization component, the sleeve has an interior cylindrical surface and an exterior cylindrical surface. The internal surface and the external surface have different hardness characteristics. The process includes using a cylindrical casting mold having an casting surface, the casting mold having a temperature which is maintained at a temperature colder than an elastomeric material being cast, casting a hollow cylindrical sleeve from the elastomeric material on the casting mold, the elastomeric material containing at least one crystallization component, providing the sleeve with an interior cylindrical surface and an exterior cylindrical surface, one of the internal or external surfaces being formed against the casting surface of the cylindrical casting mold, wherein the surface of the sleeve which is formed against the casting surface is harder than a surface which is not formed against the casting surface.

Processes for manufacture of a press jacket

The present invention provides a press jacket of a press device and a method for treating a material web, in particular a paper or cardboard web, in a nip, where the press jacket has an outer circumferential surface that is provided with grooves and/or blind bores. The grooves and/or bores include a side wall having an the opening region with a bevel and/or a rounded section that extends along a curved line, in order to counteract a volume reduction that occurs when the press device is loaded.
