A machine tool for machining a workpiece has a spindle arm with a spindle for receiving a tool or workpiece. The spindle arm is movably attached to a spindle arm receiving section. The spindle arm has a first spindle arm section, being a longitudinal element, having a first rotational axis with respect to the spindle arm receiving section and is hinged to the spindle arm receiving section; a second spindle arm section, rotatable about a second rotational axis with respect to and is hinged to the first. The spindle arm receiving section has a first subsection and a second subsection, arranged on the machine column at a distance from one another to receive the spindle arm. The first spindle arm section has first and second subsections, which are arranged on the spindle arm receiving section at a distance from each other to receive the second spindle arm section.

A machine tool includes a machine bed, a tool clamping portion which is arranged on the machine bed and serves to clamp a workpiece on the machine tool, a swivel arm receiving portion arranged on the machine bed, a first swivel arm pivotally mounted on the swivel arm receiving portion about a first axis of rotation, a second swivel arm pivotally mounted on the first swivel arm about a second axis of rotation, a spindle carrier arm rotatably mounted on the second swivel arm about a third axis of rotation, a milling head rotatably mounted on the spindle carrier arm about a fourth axis of rotation, and a work spindle which is held on the milling head and serves to receive a tool, wherein the third axis of rotation is aligned perpendicularly or transversely to the fourth axis of rotation.

A rotating or swiveling device of a machine tool, in particular an NC circular milling attachment, with a machine component on bearings which can be rotated or swivelled, and a clamping device for the releasable fixing of the machine component in the desired angled positions. A secure fixing of the rotating or swiveling machine component can, according to the present invention, also be achieved, even without a change of position, through the fact that the clamping device has a clamping component with laterally flexible clamping elements arranged on the support for gripping into a ring groove on the machine component and a pressure component which can be moved against the clamping component to press the clamping elements against at least one side wall of the ring groove.
