A query rewriter associated with a database management system or visualization client rewrites a database query based on properties, characteristics, etc. of the visualization to be rendered by the visualization client. For example, the query rewriter receives an initial query and one or more visualization parameters (such as width, height and/or type of visualization) for the visualization client. The query rewriter rewrites the initial query based on the visualization parameter(s), so as to produce a data-reducing query, and then outputs the data-reducing query for execution. The query rewriter can selectively rewrite the initial query depending on size of query results of the initial query. In some example implementations, the query rewriting models a process of rasterization of geometric primitives by the visualization client, so as to facilitate error-free visualization. In many cases, the query rewriter significantly reduces the volume of query results while facilitating fast interaction with the visualization.

In one aspect, a method can include a computing system receiving data for rendering as a plurality of objects in a chart, and rendering the plurality of objects in a first order in a first graph in a virtual display. The method can include swapping a first object and a second object in the first order of the plurality of objects creating a second order of the plurality of objects, rendering the objects in a second graph in the virtual display based on the second order, determining that a number of visible objects in the first graph is less than a number of visible objects in the second graph, and outputting the second order of the plurality of objects for rendering on a display device based on determining that a number of visible objects in the first graph is less than a number of visible objects in the second graph.

Method and system for generating data-efficient 2D plots

A computer-implemented method for distributing pre-rendering processing tasks includes: mapping data processing tasks in a real-time visualization to a visualization processing model, the real-time visualization involving data from a backend system to be rendered by a frontend system; receiving a processing cost model derived from processing-node information; determining, using the mapped data processing tasks and the models, an execution plan for the real-time visualization; and for each of the mapped data processing tasks, and according to the determined execution plan, assigning the backend system or the frontend system to perform the task.

Distributing pre-rendering processing tasks

Systems and methods for in-place user interface (UI) and dataflow modeling, including a number of UI elements of a graphical user interface (GUI) grouped in several GUI fragments. A first fragment of the several GUI fragments is switched from UI design mode to dataflow design mode, where the UI elements are replaced by data elements. The data elements in the first fragment may be related to define one part of a dataflow. A second fragment of the several GUI fragments is separately switched from UI design mode to dataflow design mode, where the UI elements are replaced by data elements. The data elements of the second fragment may be related to define another part of the dataflow. A relationship is created between the data elements of the first fragment and the data element of the second fragment based on the dataflow.
