The invention relates to a high-pressure discharge lamp having an ignition aid and comprising a discharge vessel, which is accommodated in an outer bulb. The ignition aid is a UV enhancer having a can-like container (), which has an inner electrode (). At least part of the end-face edge of the inner electrode at least comes close to the end face () of the container (). An external electrode is attached to the outside of the container.

A high-pressure discharge lamp having an ignition aid, may include a discharge vessel which is fitted in an outer bulb, wherein a UV enhancer is fitted as an ignition aid in the outer bulb, wherein the UV enhancer comprises a UV-transparent can-like container having an inner wall and end side and longitudinal axis, the container enclosing with its inner wall a cavity which is filled with a gas that can emit UV radiation, an inner vent electrode, which has at least one bend or kink, being fitted in the cavity in such a way that a bend or kink lie as close as possible to the inner wall of the container, and wherein an external electrode is applied externally in the vicinity of the container.

In various embodiments, a high-pressure discharge lamp is provided. The high-pressure discharge lamp may include a discharge vessel which is accommodated in a tubular outer bulb, wherein a major part of the outer bulb is closely surrounded by a transparent sleeve composed of highly heat-resistant plastic.

Various embodiments provide an electric high-pressure lamp with a base at one end, with a wattage of at most 100 W and with a discharge vessel which is sealed in a vacuum-tight manner, said discharge vessel being surrounded by an inner bulb and furthermore by an outer bulb, a base with electrical terminals supporting the outer bulb on one side and the inner bulb on the other side, wherein an effective axial length of the inner bulb is defined as the length of said inner bulb without the ends, with the following geometrical relations with respect to the length being maintained: the volume VH of a hollow cylinder extending between the inner bulb and the outer bulb is given by 8 cm&#x2266;VH&#x2266;15 cm; the impact quality IG, defined as the product of the clear width between the inner bulb and the outer bulb and the square of the wall thickness of the outer bulb, in each case calculated in mm, is at least 8 mm, with the result that the following applies: 8&#x2266;IG.

The light unit comprises a light source and a reflector. The light source is surrounded by an exterior pipe. Spring clips with a centering effect for the exterior bulb of the light source are anchored at the open end of the exterior pipe.

Light unit

The invention relates to a light unit, comprising a concave reflector () with an outlet opening and an axis, whereby the reflector encloses a light source running in the direction of the axis. The light source is enclosed at a separation from an open-ended cylindrical protective tube (), with a glare shield (), provided at the open end of the protective tube. The glare shield () is a sheet, cupped over the burst-protection tube, whereby the glare shield comprises a semi-circular end piece with a given maximum diameter, on which a straight cylindrical section of greater diameter is mounted which itself is further provided with an offset screen ().

Light unit provided with reflector

A light bulb () with a base and inner vessel sealed in a vacuum-tight manner and surrounded by an enveloping part is provided with an adapter () at the end thereof made from ceramic polymer and fixed in a base insulator (). The base insulator and the enveloping part are fastened to each other. The base insulator may be provided in pieces which fasten together and hold the adapter. The adapter allows cementless fastening of the inner bulb. The base insulator and the adapter part have matching indexing and mating indexing means for holding the base insulator and the adapter part in position relative to each other. Multiple mating indexing means on the base insulator allow the adapter to assume secure position at multiple heights relative to the base insulator.
