The invention relates to a medical instrumentarium for implanting a hip joint endoprosthesis, which instrumentarium comprises at least one sawing template with at least one guide slot for a saw blade, wherein the sawing template comprises at least one first coupling element for temporarily coupling the sawing template to a second coupling element of a rasp body of a prosthesis rasp in a coupling position.

A medical force measuring system is provided for measuring a force effective between two prosthesis parts that are connected to one another in articulated manner in a joint prosthesis which includes a ball joint or a partial component thereof. The force measuring system includes a measuring instrument which has a sample joint element with a sample joint surface. The sample joint element is formed in correspondence with a first joint element that forms a part of the ball joint and has a joint surface which is formed in correspondence with the sample joint surface and is moveable into engagement therewith for forming a sample ball joint. The measuring instrument also includes at least one of a measuring device and an indicating device which cooperates with the sample joint element for measuring and/or indicating a force (or a partial component thereof) effective on the sample joint surface.

Medical force measuring system

Medical instrumentation is provided, in particular for implanting a hip joint stem, which includes a rasping instrument having a rasp stem defining a longitudinal direction. The rasp stem has at least two depth stops arranged or formed thereon. An implantation set is also provided which includes such a rasping instrument.

Methods and apparatus using a surgical navigation system during hip joint replacement surgery without separately affixing a marker to the femur. The navigation system acquires the center of rotation of the hip joint as well as at least one point on the femur in the pelvic frame of reference. From these two points, the navigation system calculates the position and length of a first line between the center of rotation of the hip joint and the point on the femur. A prosthetic cup is implanted and its center of rotation is recorded. A tool for forming the bore within which the stem of the femoral implant component will be placed is tracked by the navigation system. The navigation system calculates the position and length of a first line between the center of rotation of the prosthetic cup and the re-palpated first point. The surgical navigation system uses this information to calculate and display to the surgeon relevant information about the surgery.
