Methods, devices, and assemblies for controlling pressure in a supply grid are provided. The supply grid is suitable for supplying fluid to loads. The supply grid has first sensors for measuring the flow and/or the pressure of the fluid at first locations in the supply grid and a pump for pumping the fluid or a valve for controlling the flow of the fluid. The method includes: measuring the flow and/or pressure of the fluid at the first locations in the supply grid by the first sensors; predicting the pressure at the second location in the supply grid using a self-learning system based on the measured flows or pressures, wherein the self-learning system is trained to predict the pressure at a specified location in the supply grid; and actuating the pump or the valve at least also based on the pressure predicted by the trained system at the second location.

An apparatus and method are provided for automatically generating a deterministic target differential equation system for evaluating an output differential equation system with stochastic input parameters with a device for providing a weighted sum of orthogonal basic functions inserted into the output differential equation system, which forms a stochastic random variable. A multiplication device for multiplying the output differential equation system by the orthogonal basic functions and an integration device for integrating the output differential equation system which is multiplied by the orthogonal basic functions to generate the deterministic target differential equation system are provided. A control device calculates stochastic output parameters based on the deterministic target differential equation system generated and accordingly controls a mechanical or electronic adjustment element. The apparatus may be suitable for use in a robust regulating and control circuit for regulating an installation, e.g., a chemical reaction installation, e.g., to minimize harmful exhaust gas substances.

In a method and apparatus for difference measurement of an image, the image is detected by an image sensor array having (N&#xd7;N) sensor elements, wherein N=2, n&#x2267;2, and n being an integer number, each detected sample value is read as a positive or as a negative sample value according to a sign control pattern from a pattern control unit, and measurement values are generated for measurement template blocks of the image sensor array by a computing unit which computes for each measurement template block a weighted sum of the read sample values of the respective measurement template sensor elements depending on a predetermined measurement template. A measurement template block is, provided for at least four adjacent sensor elements of the image sensor array. The method/apparatus can be used in any kind of digital camera and allows for a fast generation of image data with a hardware implementation of low complexity.

A nonlinear technical product or process described by stochastic system output target values dependent on stochastic system input parameter values, thereby stating discrete technical system dependencies, is optimized by using a Response Surface Methods based on discrete technical system dependencies to generate at least one continuous auxiliary function for the real dependencies of the target values on the input parameter values. Next, an auxiliary function is used to generate at least one optimizing parameter for optimization by an objective function, thereby generating an additional discrete technical system dependence. The technical system is adaptively optimized by repeating the above, using the additional discrete technical system dependence, until the difference of successive optimized optimizing parameters is below a threshold. The final additional discrete technical system dependence is an optimal technical system operating point.

In a sensor arrangement, a number of sensor elements make measurements and a read-out unit reads measurements from the sensor elements. Images should be recorded in such a way that easily compressible representation of the image content is obtained back at the recording stage and an additional processor unit is not required. The read-out unit reads partial measurements from the sensor elements in succession by at least one of adding and subtracting measurements of different sensor elements. By adding or subtracting the measurements of the different sensor elements to obtain the partial measurements, values of basis vectors are obtained for a basis in which the overall measurement can be represented.

A partition of an electrical circuit is formed in that the electrical circuit is imaged on a graph () and weighting values are allocated () to the edges of the graph. The weighting values describe a required calculating outlay for determining electrical descriptive quantities for the respective element of the electrical circuit represented by the edge. A check is carried in iterative methods to see whether, proceeding from preceding iteration steps, a sum of the weighting values of edges grouped together lies between a first threshold and a second threshold by adding a further edge. When this is the case, then a further check is carried out to see whether a plurality of terminals of the elements within the partition to elements outside the partition is increased by adding new edges. When this is not the case, then the respective edge is also incorporated into the partition.

A partition of an electrical circuit is formed in that the electrical circuit is mapped on a graph ( ), and the nodes and/or edges of the graph are assigned weight values ( ). The weight values describe a required computing outlay for the calculation of electrical descriptive parameters for the respective elements of the electrical circuit that is represented to the nodes and/or by the edges. A placement method is then applied to the elements of the electrical circuit ( ). Next, a measure is calculated of a number, which arises on the basis of a partitioning, of cut edges and/or margin nodes for elements of the electrical circuit ( ). The elements are grouped in partitions depending on the previously calculated measure ( ).

A system relationship function is defined which describes the &ldquo;external response&rdquo; of a set of coupled linear components in an electrical circuit. A differential equation system is defined for the set of coupled linear components, and a predetermined number of eigenvalues are determined for the homogeneous differential equation system. An error is indicated for the eigenvalues which is caused by ignoring those eigenvalues which have not been determined within the homogeneous differential equation system. If the error is less than a given setpoint error, then the system relationship function is produced from the differential equations which are described by the determined eigenvalues. If the error is greater than the limit, then further eigenvalues are determined, for which an error is in turn determined. This method is continued iteratively until the error is less than the limit.
