A glass includes cations of the following components in the indicated amounts (molar proportion in cat.-%): 30-80 cat.-% silicon; 0-20 cat.-% boron; 0-2 cat.-% aluminum; 5-35 cat.-% sodium; 2-25 cat.-% potassium; 0-0.5 cat.-% nickel; 0-0.5 cat.-% chromium; and 0.03-0.5 cat.-% cobalt. A sum of the molar proportions of cations of sodium and potassium is in a range of from 15 to 50 cat.-%, a sum of the molar proportions of cations of nickel and chromium is in a range of from 0.1 to 0.5 cat.-%, and a ratio of the sum of the molar proportions of cations of sodium and potassium to the sum of the molar proportions of cations of nickel and chromium is in a range of from 70:1 to 200:1.

Optical component and glass composition as well as use thereof

A glass includes: a plurality of components (in wt.-%) as follows: a sum of a plurality of proportions of LiO, NaO and KO being in a range of from 5.0 to 30.0 wt.-%, a sum of a plurality of amounts of MnOand CrObeing at least 0.3 wt.-%, and a ratio of a plurality of proportions of MnO(in wt.-%) and CrO(in wt.-%) being in a range of from 1.5:1 to 12.5:1.

A sealing glass is provided that includes SiO, AlOhaving a content of less than 2% by weight, is free of PbO except for unavoidable impurities, a coefficient of linear thermal expansion (α) of more than 10*10/K, a dielectric constant (ε) in the range from at least 7.10 to not more than 7.80 at a measurement frequency of 1 MHz and a temperature of 25° C., and a glass transition temperature (T) in a range from 400 to 550° C.

Sealing glass and use thereof

A glass includes the following components in % by weight: 2-10 wt-% SiO, 2-10 wt-% BO, 40-55 wt-% LaO, 4-11 wt-% GdO, 6-14 wt-% NbO, 8-18.5 wt-% TiO, and 5-11 wt-% ZrO. The glass has a refractive index nof at least 2.02, a sum of the portions of LaO, NbO, TiOand ZrOis at least 76.5% by weight, and a weight ratio of a sum of the portions of LaO, NbOand ZrOto the portion of TiOis at least 3.85:1.

Highly refractive glass

A pore-free ceramic is provided that has a high modulus of elasticity and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. A process for producing a corresponding ceramic is also provided. The pore free ceramic is a dimensionally stable substrate material in applications subjected to temperature gradients including semiconductor manufacture.

Pore-free ceramic component

Glass sheets with high refractive indexes (nd), layer composite assemblies including the glass sheets, methods for manufacturing the glass sheets, and methods of using the glass sheets are all provided. The glass sheets can be processed in a glass sheet manufacturing process and nevertheless have the optical properties of a classical optical glass. The glass sheets of the are highly transparent, resistant to crystallization, chemically resistant and highly refractive. The glass sheets have a viscosity-temperature behavior that is adapted to the manufacturing procedure with glass sheet manufacturing processes.
