A clutching mechanism () for a cultivating tiller. The tiller has an engine () mounted on a frame () with a rotatable output shaft (), a rotatable working shaft (), and a transmission () operatively connecting to the working shaft, the transmission having a rotatable transmission shaft () coaxially aligned with the output shaft of the engine. The clutching mechanism includes an upper half pulley () attached to the output shaft, and a lower half pulley () attached to the transmission shaft, wherein the upper half pulley and lower half pulley are coaxially positioned in a facing but non-contacting relationship such that the upper half pulley is able to freely rotate with respect to the lower half pulley. The clutching mechanism also includes a belt () positioned between the upper half pulley and the lower half pulley, and a tensioning assembly () configured to selectively tension the belt so that the belt transmits rotation of the upper half pulley to the lower half pulley.

In-line belt driven tille drive clutch

A tiller assembly includes a tine assembly that is rotatably connected to a tiller body and the tine assembly includes at least one tine for use in tilling associated soil. A hydraulic system is operatively connected to the tine assembly and includes a hydraulic pump, a hydraulic motor for use in rotating the tine assembly in first and second directions, a control valve, and hydraulic hose for use in communicating hydraulic fluid between the hydraulic pump, the hydraulic motor, and the control valve. The control valve may be positioned on-the-go into a first position thereby causing the tine assembly to rotate in a first direction and into a second position thereby causing the tine assembly to rotate in a second direction. The tiller assembly may also include a roller assembly that has a roller frame pivotably connected to the tiller body. The roller assembly also includes a roller that is rotatably connected to the roller frame and a spring for use in maintaining the roller against the soil. The roller has a contact surface for use in repacking the tilled soil. The spring permits the roller frame to move with respect to the tiller body.

Hydraulic tiller assembly

A yard vacuum unit includes a deck including upper and lower housing members that form a discharge outlet and a nozzle operatively connected to the deck. An engine is mounted to the deck and includes a drive shaft. An impeller assembly is used to draw yard debris in through the nozzle and out through the discharge outlet and is positioned between the upper and lower housing members. The impeller assembly includes an impeller plate, a hub fixedly connected to the impeller plate, and a plurality of fan blades each having first and second ends and first and second sides. Each fan blade first end is fixedly connected to the hub all along the first end and each fan blade first side is fixedly connected to the impeller plate all along the first side. In this way, a continuous airtight seal is formed along the entire first end of each fan blade with the hub and along the entire first side with the impeller plate. Each second end extends to the outer periphery of the impeller plate.

Impeller assembly

A vacuum unit used to vacuum lawn debris includes a vacuum unit body having at least first and second inlet openings and at least one flap that can be adjusted to selectively cover and open the second opening. The vacuum unit body includes a flap adjustment member that is located within the second opening and that includes a contact surface that contacts the flap. Preferably, the flap adjustment member has one end that is adapted to receive a vacuum hose. The flap adjustment member can be placed into a first position where it causes the flap to open the second opening and a second position where it permits the flap to cover the second opening. The vacuum hose has a handle that can be attached to the vacuum unit handle permitting the vacuum hose to remain permanently attached to the vacuum unit even when the vacuum hose is not being used.

A tine assembly for a cultivator includes a first tine member having a plurality of radially extending non-planar tines. At least two tines on each tine member differ in shape from the remaining tines. The tine assembly may include a second tine member which is shaped like a mirror-image of the first tine member. When assembled on a shaft, the second tine member is off-set from the first tine member so that tines on alternating tine members contact the ground as the shaft rotates.

Adjustable vacuum nozzle

A yard vacuum unit includes a deck including upper and lower housing members that form a discharge outlet and a nozzle operatively connected to the deck. An engine is, mounted to the deck and includes a drive shaft. An impeller assembly is used to draw yard debris in through the nozzle and out through the discharge outlet and is positioned between the upper and lower housing members. The impeller assembly includes an impeller plate, a hub fixedly connected to the impeller plate, and a plurality of fan blades each having first and second ends and first and second sides. Each fan blade first end is fixedly connected to the hub all along the first end and each fan blade first side is fixedly connected to the impeller plate all along the first side. In this way, a continuous airtight seal is formed along the entire first end of each fan blade with the hub and along the entire first side with the impeller plate. Each second end extends to the outer periphery of the impeller plate.

Efficiency impeller assembly for yard vacuum unit

A shredder including a frame, a housing with a housing opening mounted to the frame, and a cutting blade mounted within the housing for use in shredding associated lawn debris is provided. The shredder also includes an engine mounted to the frame for use in driving the cutting blade and a hopper assembly for use in directing the associated lawn debris into the housing opening and to the cutting blade. The hopper assembly includes a chute having a first end pivotably connected to the housing and having a chute opening for receiving the associated lawn debris. The chute opening communicates with the housing opening. The chute can be positioned into first and second positions with respect to the housing. The hopper assembly also includes a flap for automatically covering at least a portion of the chute opening when the chute is placed in the first position and for automatically uncovering the opening when the chute is placed in the second position. A flap bail pivotably connected to the chute is used to hold the flap against an inner surface of the chute thereby uncovering the chute opening. The flap bail is adjusted as the chute is adjusted by an adjustment mechanism. The adjustment mechanism includes a control rod having a first end and a second end that is pivotably connected to the housing. The adjustment mechanism also includes an arm bracket having a first end fixedly connected to the first end of the flap bail and a second end pivotably connected to the first end of the control rod.

An adjustable nozzle for use with a chipper-shredder vacuum for vacuuming debris from an outdoor surface is disclosed. The nozzle has an inlet for directing debris into the nozzle. The inlet has a first side, a middle section, a second side, and a non-inlet area. The first side has a first nozzle inlet, the middle section has a middle nozzle inlet, the second side has a second nozzle inlet. The cross-sectional areas of the first and second nozzle inlets are greater than the cross-sectional area of the middle nozzle inlet to equalize vacuum force throughout the nozzle. The nozzle further includes a nozzle extension that extends below the nozzle and an adjustment apparatus for adjusting the height of the nozzle extension from the ground to conform the chipper-shredder vacuum to the terrain. The nozzle extension may be raised for bumpy or thick terrain or lowered for a flat terrain.
