A plastisol formulation which can be used for coatings of metal sheets, the coatings having high abrasion resistance, contains a) a plasticizer or mixture of plasticizers; and b) a mixture of polymer particles containing at least two components A and B; c) at least one member selected from the group consisting of fillers, coupling agents, stabilizers, desiccants, rheological additives, hollow bodies and mixtures thereof; wherein the polymer particles containing at least two components A and B have one of the following structures ba) a 2-stage structure, a 3-stage structure or multi-stage structure, or bb) a gradient polymer structure.

Method for synthesis of spray-dried poly(METH)acrylate polymers, use of same as polymer components for plastisols, and plastisols produced therewith

Copolymerizates of methyl methacrylate and butyl methacrylate are used as plastisols in the automotive sector and as floor coverings. The invention describes a way to increase the storage stability of the plastisols by using small amounts of cross-linking agents.

Plastisols with cross-linking agents

Varnishing plastic surfaces with a clear or pigmented aqueous dispersion of a (meth)acrylate copolymer of (a) 20 to 90% by weight of acrylic and/or methacrylic acid alkyl or cycloalkyl esters with 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the ester group; (b) 80 to 10% by weight of acrylic and/or methacrylic acid esters with aromatic groups as the ester group or containing aromatic groups in the ester group; and (c) optionally, small quantities of other monomers, results in the formation of a firmly adhering, water and alcohol resistant finish. The copolymers are preferably emulsion polymers and are synthesized as multiple-phase polymers according to the core-shell model.
