A method of conditioning and oxidatively dyeing human hair includes applying an oxidative hair dyeing composition to the human hair in order to dye the human hair and, simultaneously or subsequently to the applying of the oxidative hair dyeing composition, applying a particular hair conditioning composition to the hair. This hair conditioning composition has a pH value of from 3.4 to 3.9, which corresponds to an isoelectric point of the human hair, and contains from 0.001 to 2.5% by weight of a cationic polymer, an optional pH buffer and preferably additional conditioning ingredients, such as a cationic surfactant and/or a fatty alcohol.

Method and composition adjusted to the isoelectric point of hair for conditioning of oxidatively dyed hair

The composition for hardening, strengthening and restructuring keratin-containing materials and/or for increasing the volume of keratin-containing fibers, such as hair, contains from 0.3 to 50.0% by weight of one or more reductones, each having a &mdash;(HO)C&boxH;C(OH)&mdash; group. The reductone ingredient is preferably ascorbic or isoascorbic acid, a salt of ascorbic or isoascorbic acid, such as an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt, an ester of ascorbic or isoascorbic acid, 6-O-palmitoyl ascorbate, ascorbyl phosphate, 2,3-dihydroxy-2-propenal and hydroxypropanedial. A method of treating keratin-containing materials or fibers to harden, strengthen and restructure keratin-containing materials and/or to increase the volume of the keratin-containing fibers by applying this composition and allowing it to act is described. A method of pre-treating keratin-containing material that is to be subjected to a chemical or physical treatment, such as dyeing or permanent shaping is also described.

The wax combination for the cosmetic compositions contains from 2 to 70 percent by weight of apple wax; from 5 to 70 percent by weight of orange wax and/or citric wax; and from 10 to 70 percent by weight of jojoba oil. The cosmetic compositions advantageously contain a portion of the wax combination in free form or an effective ingredient complex consisting of capsules, each containing some of the wax combination.
