System and methods are provided for managing use of media feeds in a media player. A media feed may be selected from a plurality of media feeds based on a feedback signal corresponding to an audio output signal of a media player, and a corresponding transmit signal may be configured for transmittal to the media player. The transmit signal may include a plurality of channels, and configuring the transmit signal may include selecting one channel from the plurality of channels based on the feedback signal, and conveying the media feed over the selected channel. The selected channel may be processed to carry the media feed, such as by frequency-modulating the media feed into the selected channel. The feedback signal may be processed, and control information may be determined based on the processing for controlling one or both of the selecting of the media feed and configuring of the transmit signal.

System and method for selecting input feeds to a media player

Methods and systems are provided for recording data in a network. A recording device may receive a recording instruction identifying a media content transmitted by an upstream media content server, and may offload recording one or more of a plurality of portions of the media content to one or more intermediate recording devices positioned between the recording device and the upstream media content server. Each portion of the media content may correspond to different portion of a transmission period associated with transmission of the media content, and may be assigned a corresponding recording control information configured based, at least in part, on one or more parameters associated with a network node recording or storing a corresponding one of the portions. Storage and retrieval of each of the portions of the media content may be managed based, at least in part, on the corresponding recording control information.

Methods and systems for recording transmitted data

Methods and systems are provided for image processing. A plurality of correlation parameters representing degrees of correlation between two or more images of a plurality of images may be produced. An optimized correlation dependency graph may be produced according to the plurality of correlation parameters. The plurality of images may then be delta encoded according to the optimized correlation dependency graph. For example, the optimized correlation dependency graph may be used for performing a correlation encoding operation. The plurality of correlation parameters may be produced, for example, in accordance with one or more correlation metrics associated with the correlation encoding operation.

Method and system for optimized delta encoding

Methods and systems are provided for recording data in a network used for transmission of the data. An arrangement of recording devices in the network may be used to record the data (e.g., media content) transmitted from a source (e.g., source media content server) on the network. The arrangement of recording devices comprises at least one local recording device and one or more upstream recording devices. The local recording device, when it is not possible or convenient to record the data or a part of the data during the time of transmission, is capable of issuing an upstream record instruction, thereby delegating the task of recording and/or storing the data or part of the data to an upstream recording device on the network. The upstream recording device may in turn, if necessary, delegate the recording and/or storage of all or part of the data to further upstream recording devices.

System and methods are provided for playing media feeds via a standard media player in enhanced manner. The media feeds may be obtained via the Internet. A particular signature signal, from a plurality of signature signals, may be determined based on a feedback signal corresponding to an audio output signal of the media player, and based on the determined signature signal, a media feed of a plurality of media feeds may be selected. An input signal configured for the media player may then be transmitted, with the input signal including a plurality of channels, and the selected media feed being conveyed over one of the plurality of channels associated with the determined signature signal. The signature signals may include audio frequency signals and/or acoustic signals inaudible to human hearing. The feedback signal may be an electrical, a wireless or an optical signal.

Methods and systems are provided for image processing. A plurality of correlation parameters representing degrees of correlation between two or more images of a plurality of images may be determined. An optimized correlation dependency graph may be generated according to the plurality of correlation parameters. The plurality of images may then be delta encoded according to the optimized correlation dependency graph. For example, the optimized correlation dependency graph may be used for performing a predetermined correlation encoding operation. The plurality of correlation parameters may be determined, for example, in accordance with one or more predetermined correlation metrics associated with the predetermined correlation encoding operation.

A system and method are provided for enabling a plurality of media feeds, such as internet radio stations, to be played through a standard media player, such as a radio receiving device, using the tuning or input selection controls of the media player to control the selection of which media feed to play. Identification signatures are added to channels and transmitted to the media player by transmitter. A controller captures the feedback of the media player and, if it detects one of the signature signals in the feedback, instructs the media feed selector to select a media feed which corresponds to the detected identification signature. The selected audio feed may then be transmitted to the media player on the corresponding channel for playback.

Methods and systems are provided for batch processing. A plurality of correlation parameters representing degrees of correlation between two or more data sets in a first batch of data sets may be determined, and an optimized correlation dependency graph may be generated according to the plurality of correlation parameters. A second batch of data sets may then be encoded according to the optimized correlation dependency graph. For example, the optimized correlation dependency graph may be used for performing a predetermined correlation encoding operation. The plurality of correlation parameters may be determined, for example, in accordance with one or more predetermined correlation metrics associated with a predetermined correlation encoding operation.

A method and system are described for preparing a batch of data sets for a batch processing using a predetermined correlation encoding operation. The batch of data sets may be analyzed to determine a plurality of correlation parameters representing degrees of correlation between member data sets of said batch of data sets. The correlation parameters may be used to generate an optimized correlation dependency graph of the member sets. The optimized correlation dependency graph may be used for performing the predetermined correlation encoding operation. By optimizing the correlation dependencies between data sets for subsequent processing, e.g. data compression, of the data sets, the advantages of correlation encoding may be used, even for data sets which appear a priori to be unordered and only weakly correlated.

Aspects of the present invention relate to a method, and various systems operable or arranged to implement that method, of generating a network map illustrating availability of network access technologies in various locations of the network. The method may comprise the following steps: (a) sending, by a first network unit, the location of which is identified by a first identifier, first data to a second network unit, the location of which is identified by a second identifier, whereby the first data is sent using at least two different network access technologies and is sent to at least two different possible locations for the second network unit; (b) receiving by the first network unit from the second network unit, first measurement data relating to the sent first data; and (c) generating the network map based on the measurement data, the first identifier and the second identifier.
