The invention relates to an electric drive unit for a motor vehicle, said drive unit comprising: an electric drive (); a gearbox () connected downstream of the electric drive () in the power flow direction and located in a gearbox housing (); means for circulating coolant in the interior () of the gearbox housing (); and a rotatably mounted input or output shaft () of the gearbox (); wherein the gearbox housing () is composed of a housing shell (), which annularly surrounds a central axis (A), and an end wall (), and wherein the end wall () extends radially outwards from an opening () for the input or the output shaft () as far as a connecting region () in which the end wall () and the housing shell () are connected to one another. In order to improve the flow conditions using design measures, in particular in those areas of the gearbox housing in which the coolant is discharged or suctioned out of the gearbox housing during circulation of same, an annular chamber () is provided which extends in the circumferential direction along the connecting region () and which is connected to the interior () via individual openings ().

The invention relates to an electric drive unit for a motor vehicle, comprising an electric drive and a multi-stage transmission (), which is connected downstream of the electric drive and which is arranged, alone or together with the electric drive, in a drive housing (). The drive housing is composed of a housing shell (), the interior () of which annularly surrounds the transmission (), and an end wall (), which is formed integrally with the housing shell (). The end wall is provided, at the center thereof, with a transmission opening () for the transmission output shaft () of the transmission (). Cooling liquid is conducted through the drive housing in order to cool the components of the transmission. In order to improve the cooling performance while utilizing precisely the design-related particularities of the electric drive unit, a ring chamber () arranged around the transmission opening () is provided on the outside of the end wall (), and coolant channels () are formed in the drive housing (), which coolant channels lead from the interior () of the housing shell () into the ring chamber ().
