The invention relates to the use of compounds of formulae (I) and/or (II) as colorless 1R absorbers wherein M is Ni, Pd, Pt, Au, Ir, Fe, Zn, W, Cu, Mo, In, Mn, Co, Mg, V, Cr or Ti, X, Xand Xare each independently of the others sulfur or oxygen, R, R, R, R, Rand Rare each independently of the others hydrogen, NRR, unsubstituted or substituted C-Calkyl, C-Calkyl wherein the alkylene chain is interrupted with oxygen, unsubstituted or substituted C-Calkenyl, unsubstituted or substituted aryl, unsubstituted or substituted arylalkyl or unsubstituted or substituted heteroarylalkyl, Rand R, each independently of the other, being unsubstituted or substituted C-Calkyl, unsubstituted or substituted aryl, unsubstituted or substituted arylalkyl or unsubstituted or substituted heteroarylalkyl, a further IR absorber optionally being added to the compounds of formulae (I) and (II). The invention relates also to novel dithiolene compounds of formulae (I) and (II) wherein Xis oxygen and Xand Xare oxygen or sulfur. The invention relates furthermore to novel dithiolene compounds of formulae (I) and (II) wherein Rto Rare NRR. 

Dithiolene metal complex colorless IR absorbers

The invention relates to the use of compounds of formulae (I) and/or (II) as colorless IR absorbers wherein M is Ni, Pd, Pt, Au, Ir, Fe, Zn, W, Cu, Mo, In, Mn, Co, Mg, V, Cr or Ti, X, Xand Xare each independently of the others sulfur or oxygen, R, R, R, R, Rand Rare each independently of the others hydrogen, NRR, unsubstituted or substituted C-Calkyl, C-Calkyl wherein the alkylene chain is interrupted with oxygen, unsubstituted or substituted C-Calkenyl, unsubstituted or substituted aryl, unsubstituted or substituted arylalkyl or unsubstituted or substituted heteroarylalkyl, Rand R, each independently of the other, being unsubstituted or substituted C-Calkyl, unsubstituted or substituted aryl, unsubstituted or substituted arylalkyl or unsubstituted or substituted heteroarylalkyl, a further IR absorber optionally being added to the compounds of formulae (I) and (II). The invention relates also to novel dithiolene compounds of formulae (I) and (II) wherein Xis oxygen and Xand Xare oxygen or sulfur. The invention relates furthermore to novel dithiolene compounds of formulae (I) and (II) wherein Rto Rare NRR. 

Disclosed is a composition comprising a charged particle of volume 5 nmto 50 million nmpreferably having an inorganic core of SiO, AIO, and/or TiO, or a core essentially consisting of an organic pigment and/or pigment derivative, and a counter ion which is separable from the particle and is not covalently linked to the particle, said counter ion comprising a silicon atom which is directly bound to a carbon atom. Preferably, said charged particle comprises a dye attached to said inorganic core and said counter ion comprises a (poly)siloxane moiety linked via suitable bridge members to a quaternary, positively charged, nitrogen or phosphorus atom, or to a moiety carrying an anionic functional group. Said composition may be used e.g. in the form of a homogenous dispersion in an electrophoretic display.

Charged particles

The present invention relates to specific metal complexes of dithiolenes with perfluoroalkyl substituted imidazolidine-2-chalcogenone-4,5-dithione ligands, a process for their preparation and their use as colourless IR absorbers, for optical filters application; especially for plasma display panels, or for laser welding of plastics. The compounds may be used in compositions for inks, paints and plastics, especially in a wide variety of printing systems and are particularly well-suited for security applications.

Chromophores with perfluoroalkyl substituents

The present invention relates to the use of specific metal complexes of dithiolenes with aryl or heteroarylsubstituted imidazolidine-2-chalcogenone-4,5-dithione ligands as colorless IR absorbers.

Use of aryl or heteroaryl substituted dithiolene metal complexes as IR absorbers

Described is a black dichroic dye composition comprising 2 or more dyes, wherein at least one dye, generally a red dye and optionally a yellow dye, conforms to the formula A and at least one dye, usually a blue dye, conforms to the formula B Ar&#x2014;N&#x2550;N&#x2014;[Ar&#x2014;N&#x2550;N&#x2014;]Ar&#x2014;N&#x2550;N&#x2014;Ar(B) with symbols as defined in present claims. The dye composition is well suited for combination with liquid crystal material for use, inter alia, as polarizing film and/or in liquid crystal displays, showing, inter alia, high dichroic ratio and excellent compatibility with the LC material.

The invention relates to a powder composition comprising particles of a) an alkali metal tungsten bronze, b) tungsten oxide, and c) tungsten metal, a method for the preparation of said powder composition, and to the use of said powder composition in form of a dispersion in a polymer material or article for heat shielding, or to increase the heat-input amount of near infrared radiation in processes selected from laser welding of plastics, NIR curing of coatings, drying of printing inks, fixing of ink toners to a substrate, heating of plastic performs, laser marking of plastics or paper.

Heat absorbing additives

Disclosed are potassium cesium tungsten bronze solid solution particles of the formula KCsWO, where x+y&#x2266;1 and 2&#x2266;z&#x2266;3. The particles are for instance micron or nano scaled particles. Also disclosed are organic or inorganic compositions comprising an organic or inorganic substrate and incorporated therein the present potassium cesium tungsten bronze solid solution particles. The substrates are for instance plastics, coatings, inks, adhesives, ceramics or glass. Also disclosed is a method for the preparation of the present potassium cesium tungsten bronze solid solution particles, which method comprises mixing a suitable tungsten source with a salt of potassium and a salt of cesium to form a powder mixture and exposing the powder mixture to a plasma torch under a reducing atmosphere. The present tungsten bronze particles are suitable NIR absorbers and heat shielding additives.
