An elevator installation and a method for lubricating bearings in an elevator hoist machine of the elevator installation ensure that during start-up and subsequent running of the elevator hoist machine the bearings are provided with a mixed film lubrication or an elastohydrodynamic lubrication to optimize bearing life expectation.

An elevator drive unit including a traction sheave supported by a shaft rotatably supported by a pair of bearings. Mounted on opposite free ends of the shaft are rotors of a pair of electric motors. Cage-housings on a pair of spaced bearing end-plates retain the stators of the motors. A plurality of frequency converters operating in a master/slave mode to supply electrical power to the motors.

Drive unit for an elevator

According to the invention, the maintenance scaffold () is assembled as follows: in a first step, an illuminated ceiling, which lies below the collapsed maintenance scaffold (), is taken down. Suspension members () are then brought into a vertical position. The platform () and flap () are lowered vertically until they reach the bearings () of the suspension members (). Before mounting the platform (), the maintenance personnel must unfold the ladder () and open the flap () upwards. Once the personnel has mounted the platform (), the flap is closed () by means of a handle, in such a way that the entire platform can be used as a working scaffold. With the maintenance scaffold () in the working position, the height for a regulatory passage (U) is maintained, as determined by the distance between the cabin ceiling () and the platform ().

Device for carrying out work in an elevator shaft

An elevator has a car that moves along at least one guiderail in a hoistway and the car is supported by at least one suspension rope that is driven by a drive unit. The drive unit has a drive motor that rotates rope sheave over which the suspension rope passes. The drive unit is located in an upper section of the hoistway and projects over at least part of the car. To assure safe access to the drive unit when the dimensions of the hoistway are efficiently minimized, the car has a closable opening in the roof through which the drive unit is accessible.

Elevator without a machine room

A torque-measuring device for an elevator brake measures the elastic deformation of active parts of a brake, for example, a shoe brake. In that case, regions with a reduced bending moment resistance are formed at the brake levers and elastically deform under the action of braking torque. The elastic deformation is detected by strain gauge strips arranged in these regions and connected as a measuring bridge and the generated voltage signals are provided to an elevator control as reference signals by an analog-to-digital converter and a microprocessor. The elevator control uses these reference signals to generate in a drive motor a motor torque compensating for the measured torque before the release of the brake. Thus, the resulting torque at the brake shaft is zero and a jerk-free start of the elevator car, without a torque jump, results therefrom after release of the brake.

Elevator brake

A lift installation or assembly in which a lift cage and counterweight are driven by cables of a drive unit, which is arranged in a lift shaft. A carrier yoke is arranged at the upper ends of first and second guide elements. For mounting, maintenance and repair operations the drive unit can be pivoted into the lift shaft by means of a rotary mechanism arranged at the carrier yoke.
