A turbine shaft bearing apparatus in a turbine module includes two axially spaced turbine shaft bearings, including an outlet side bearing protected from overheating by a solid bearing housing which surrounds the outlet side bearing. The bearing housing being provided with a support including conduit for a lubricating medium. The turbine module has plurality of axially spaced turbine wheels connected to a common turbine shaft and coaxial therewith; an inlet through which motive fluid vapor is introduced to a first stage of the turbine wheels; a structured bleeding exit opening formed in an outer turbine casing of the turbine module; and a passage defined between two of the turbine wheels and in fluid communication with the bleeding exit opening, wherein expanded motive fluid vapor may be extracted through the structured bleeding exit opening and supplied to a heat exchange component for heating the motive fluid condensate.

Turbine shaft bearing and turbine apparatus

A waste heat recovery system includes a high pressure turbine and a low pressure turbine, in which the high pressure turbine receives high pressure working fluid vapor, the low pressure turbine receives low pressure working fluid vapor and the high pressure turbine also supplies low pressure working fluid vapor to the low pressure turbine. A recuperator receives working fluid vapor from the low pressure turbine. The recuperator produces heated condensate, at least a portion of which is provided to a high pressure vaporizer. The high pressure vaporizer is configured to receive from a high temperature heat source and produces high pressure working vapor used to power the high pressure turbine. The remaining condensed fluid is provided to a low pressure vaporizer which is configured to receive heat from a low-temperature heat source, thereby producing low pressure working fluid vapor used to power the low pressure turbine.

Multi-level organic rankine cycle power system

The present invention provides a waste heat recovery system, comprising: an internal combustion engine for supplying a high grade waste heat thermal resource fluid and a low grade waste heat thermal resource fluid; an intermediate thermal cycle by which an intermediate fluid is vaporized by means of the high grade waste heat thermal resource fluid and is expanded within a first turbine, whereby produce is produced; and an organic thermal cycle by which an organic motive fluid is preheated by means of the low grade waste heat thermal resource fluid and is vaporized by means of the discharge of the intermediate fluid from the first turbine, said vaporized organic motive fluid being expanded in a second turbine, whereby power is produced.

Waste heat recovery system

A geothermal based, binary cycle power plant is provided, comprising: a vaporizer for vaporizing pre-heated organic motive fluid by means of geothermal steam; two organic vapor turbines operating in parallel and coupled to a common generator, each of said turbines being driven by vaporized organic motive fluid supplied to each turbine; two recuperators for heating the organic motive fluid by means of a corresponding organic vapor turbine discharge; and two condensers for condensing heat depleted motive fluid exiting said two recuperators, respectively. A geothermal steam condensate recovery system is also provided, comprising a source of geothermal steam for vaporizing a organic motive fluid and producing geothermal steam condensate, and conduit means through which geothermal steam condensate is delivered to a supply of cooling liquid used to condense the organic motive fluid, the delivered geothermal steam condensate serving as make-up liquid for evaporated cooling liquid.

The present invention provides a power and regasification system based on liquefied natural gas (LNG), comprising a vaporizer by which liquid motive fluid is vaporized, said liquid motive fluid being LNG or a motive fluid liquefied by means of LNG; a turbine for expanding the vaporized motive fluid and producing power; heat exchanger means to which expanded motive fluid vapor is supplied, said heat exchanger means also being supplied with LNG for receiving heat from said expanded fluid vapor, whereby the temperature of the LNG increases as it flows through the heat exchanger means; a conduit through which said motive fluid is circulated from at least the inlet of said vaporizer to the outlet of said heat exchanger means; and a line for transmitting regasified LNG.

Power and regasification system for LNG

The present invention provides a power plant system for producing power using a source of steam, comprising: a vaporizer into which steam from a source of steam is supplied, for vaporizing organic working fluid flowing through the vaporizer; at least one turbine wherein one of the turbines is an organic vapor turbine to which the vaporized working fluid is supplied and which is suitable for generating electricity and producing expanded organic vapor; a recuperator for heating organic vapor condensate flowing towards the vaporizer the expanded organic vapor exhausted from the organic vapor turbine; and two or more stages of preheating means for additionally heating organic working fluid exiting the recuperator and flowing towards the vaporizer, wherein fluid extracted from one of the turbines is delivered to one of the stages of preheating means.

Method and system for producing power from a source of steam

The present invention provides a power plant system for producing power using a source of steam, comprising a vaporizer into which steam from a source of steam is supplied, for vaporizing organic working fluid flowing through the vaporizer; at least one turbine wherein one of the turbines is an organic vapor turbine to which the vaporized working fluid is supplied and which is suitable for generating electricity and producing; expanded organic vapor; a recuperator for heating organic vapor condensate flowing towards the vaporizer the expanded organic vapor exhausted from the organic vapor turbine and two or more stages of preheating means for additionally heating organic working fluid exiting the recuperator and flowing towards the vaporizer, wherein fluid extracted from one of the turbine is delivered to one of the stages of preheating means.

LNG-based power and regasification system

A heat recovery method and system that extracts heat from the exhaust of a gas turbine unit in a waste heat, heat exchanger and transfers the heat to an intermediate fluid, which can be pressurized water. The intermediate fluid in-turn transfers the heat to an organic working fluid resulting in the vaporization thereof. The vaporized organic working fluid drives a series of turbines which in turn drive a generator that generates electricity.

Waste heat recovery in an organic energy converter using an intermediate liquid cycle

A power plant includes a prime mover for burning fuel and producing work and hot exhaust gases, and heat exchanger apparatus that is responsive to the hot exhaust gases and to pre-heated steam condensate for converting the latter into high-pressure steam and for producing heat depleted exhaust gases. A combustor, preferably, a fluidized bed combustor, is responsive to burning fuel for supplying additional heat to a product of the heat exchanger apparatus, and producing combustion products. The combustion products are supplied to a superheater for producing superheated, high pressure steam from the high pressure steam supplied from the heat exchange apparatus. A high pressure steam turbine expands the superheated, high pressure steam and produces power and exhaust steam that is condensed to steam condensate in a condenser. Finally, the power plant includes an economizer that is responsive to the heat-depleted combustion products and to the steam condensate for producing the pre-heated condensate used by the heat exchange apparatus.

Multi-fuel, combined cycle power plant

A power plant includes a gas turbine unit having a compressor for compressing ambient air, a burner for burning fuel and heating air compressed by said compressor, and a turbine for expanding air heated by said burner to drive said compressor and produce hot exhaust gases. The plant further includes a combustor for containing particles of solid fuel which are fluidized by the exhaust gases from the turbine to produce hot products of combustion that include coarse ash particulate. Apparatus is provided for generating power from the hot products of combustion.

Apparatus for utilizing geothermal fluid comprising a two-phase mixture of geothermal steam and brine produced by a production well, includes an input conduit connecting the production well with the separator which separates the geothermal fluid into high pressure geothermal steam and geothermal brine. A connecting conduit connects the separator to a geothermal power plant which produces power from the high pressure geothermal steam. The input conduit is shorter than said connecting conduit to reduce pressure losses due to two-phase flow in the input conduit. The geothermal power plant includes a topping steam turbine coupled to a generator, and a flow control mechanism for applying the high pressure geothermal steam to the topping steam turbine which is constructed and arranged to drive the generator and produce exhaust steam at a pressure greater than atmospheric pressure. A secondary separator receives the exhaust steam and produces condensate and dry low pressure steam which is applied to a condensing steam turbine coupled to a generator for producing power and exhaust steam that is below atmospheric pressure. The flow control system is effective to maintain a substantially constant flow rate of geothermal steam through he power plant in the face of decreasing pressure of the geothermal fluid.

Method and apparatus for producing power from geothermal fluid

An apparatus for producing power from a geothermal fluid that is a mixture of high pressure steam and brine comprising a separator, a steam turbine coupled to a generator, a steam condenser, the vaporized organic fluid is supplied to a superheater, an organic vapor turbine coupled to a generator, an organic vapor condenser. The apparatus further comprises a preheater which preheats the organic condensate and produces a stream of pre-heated organic fluid that is supplied to the steam condenser as well as a stream of cooled steam condensate. A recuperator is provided for transferring heat from the heat depleted organic fluid produced by the organic vapor turbine to organic condensate produced by the organic vapor condenser. The heated organic condensate produced by the recuperator is supplied to the preheater while cooled, heat depleted organic vapor produced by the recuperator is supplied to the organic vapor condenser. The stream of cooled brine is combined with the stream of cooled steam condensate to form a combined stream of diluted cooled brine that is less susceptible to precipitation of minerals.
