A method that may include receiving, by multiple antennas of a receiver, received signals that are received with diversity and represent transmitted signals; and processing, by at least one processor of the receiver, the received signals to provide processed signals that are indicative of the transmitted signals; wherein the processing comprises applying a dimension-reducing process. The dimension-reducing process may be channel independent.

Method for processing received signals

A method, comprising: sending, by a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader, an identification request to an RFID tag; wherein the RFID tag is positioned within a coverage area of the RFID tag; searching, by the RFID reader, a lack of response from the RFID tag to the identification request during a silent period that ranges between a fraction of a second and a minute; and controlling, by the RFID reader and in response to a detection of the lack of response, a circuit that differs from the RFID reader and the RFID tag.

RFID system and a method for manipulating passive RFID tags

There is provided a transmission system and method of operating thereof. The method comprises: dividing a data sequence to be transmitted into a plurality of data blocks; encoding one or more data blocks with one or more linear systematic cyclic codes thus giving rise to encoded data blocks; transmitting said encoded data blocks over an ISI transmission channel; upon receiving, applying a linear integer-forcing (IF) equalization to the received data blocks; processing the output of the IF equalization thereby detecting for each encoded data block a valid codeword with maximal likelihood of decoding; and reconstructing the data blocks using the respective detected valid codewords.

Transmission system with ISI channel and method of operating thereof

A powerful new class of methods for encoding digital data for reliable transmission over unreliable communication channels is described. With this method, the message bits are divided into multiple submessages and the bits in each layer are encoded using a standard error correction code to provide a plurality of subcodewords. A first linear transformation is applied to each of the subcodewords. The so-transformed subcodewords from the different submessages are then combined to form a first redundancy block to be transmitted. Additional redundancy blocks are generated by repeating this process on the same message but with jointly related nonidentical sets of linear transformations. The result is a set of codewords for each message which are then used to generate a transmitted waveform in one of several different ways, depending upon the application. For example, the codewords can be used in sequence (temporally) to form a rateless code for transmission over channels of unknown quality, in which case a receiver accumulates as many of the codewords as are necessary to successfully decode. As another example, the codewords can be spatially distributed if the channel has multiple-inputs, as would be the case in a multi-antenna system. As still another example, the codewords can be distributed over subchannels in a frequency-division multiplexing system.

System and apparatus for error control codes based on layering and linear transformations

A needle assembly for passing a needle through an aperture formed in a plate placed between the needle assembly and a body to be pierced by the needle, the needle assembly including a needle having a needle point, and a sleeve associated with the needle, wherein at least a portion of the sleeve has elastic properties in a generally longitudinal direction and is adapted to take up a generally extended state when the assembly is in a non-operative orientation so as to surround a portion of the needle including the needle point, and is further adapted to take up a compressed state when the assembly is in an operative orientation so as to expose a portion of the needle including the needle point, the needle point passing through the aperture in the operative orientation, and wherein the sleeve comprises an aligning device for aligning the needle point with respect to the aperture.

Skin piercing needle assembly

Apparatus for piercing skin including a skin contact surface arranged to contact a portion of skin to be pierced, a skin piercing needle arranged to pierced the skin within the region and a cooling assembly providing cooling of the skin contact surface thereby cooling the portion of skin prior to and during piercing thereof by the skin piercing needle.
