A vibration damper with at least two absorbers, each having at least one spoke spring, enables efficient damping of the frequency response of a crankshaft. The absorbers preferably have different natural frequencies that are adapted to the frequency response of the crankshaft. The absorbers exhibit a frequency response, which is not or only insignificantly dependent on aging of the spoke springs and on the ambient temperature. The corresponding vibration dampers can be easily designed and mounted.

The invention relates to a joining arrangement for connecting a pipe to a system, especially a hydraulic clutch disengagement system. The joining arrangement comprises a joining member which can be fixed to a final section of the pipe and is to be connected to an opposite piece that is fastened to the system. The joining member positively embraces at least one radially prominent protrusion of the pipe for fastening purposes.

Hydraulic system

A hydraulic system, especially for motor vehicles includes a master cylinder, a slave cylinder and a pressure medium line connected thereto. The invention provides a hydraulic system which is simple or economical to produce by virtue of the fact that the hydraulic system includes at least one hydraulic plug-type connection with a plug connector and a socket contact and the plug connector includes an abutment and a sealing element which are made of different materials and which are connected together in a material fit.

A hydraulic clutch-release system has a dual-piston clutch actuator for actuating a twin clutch of an automated manual transmission of a vehicle. The actuator has pistons disposed coaxially with one another in a housing. The pistons are accommodated movably relative to one another in cooperating cylinder chambers for actuating the diaphragm springs of a clutch of the twin clutch. Mutually facing regions of the lateral surfaces of the pistons are in contact.

Hydraulic clutch-release system

The friction clutch between the prime mover and the change-speed transmission in the power train of a motor vehicle is actuatable by a slave cylinder cooperating with a master cylinder wherein the piston is movable by a clutch pedal or by an electric actuator. The casing of the slave cylinder is made, at least in part, of a plastic material and defines a plenum chamber arranged to receive pressurized fluid from the master cylinder by way of a conduit extending through a bell which contains the clutch and the slave cylinder. The annular piston of the slave cylinder surrounds the input shaft of the transmission. The plastic material of the casing of the slave cylinder can contain one or more additives which enhance its strength and/or influence its frictional engagement with the adjacent surfaces of the piston or of a lip seal which reciprocates with the piston. The piston and/or the lip seal can be installed in the casing to contact one or two metallic or plastic guide sleeves which are connected to or form part of the casing.

Hydraulic operating arrangement for clutches and the like

The present invention relates to a hydraulic system, in particular for motor vehicles, including a master cylinder having a housing, a piston which is axially movably disposed therein, which bounds a pressure chamber filled with a hydraulic fluid, and which, upon actuation of the master cylinder, is axially moved by a piston rod acting upon the piston, thereby pressurizing the hydraulic fluid; further including a slave cylinder and a pressure-medium line connecting the cylinders; the master cylinder having an adapter for detachable connection to the pressure-medium line. The objective of improving the connection between the pressure-medium line and the adapter is achieved in that the adapter includes a sleeve made of a metal.

The piston of a master cylinder in the power train of a motor vehicle is made, at least in part, of a thermosetting plastic material and cooperates with one or more annular seals to ensure that a source of hydraulic fluid is communicatively connected with the chamber in the housing of the master cylinder when the piston is moved by one or more springs or otherwise in a sense to increase the volume of the chamber. When a pedal or another actuator causes the piston to expel pressurized fluid from the master cylinder into a slave cylinder, the seal or seals cooperates or cooperate with the housing and/or with the piston of the master cylinder to seal the source from the chamber of the master cylinder. The slave cylinder can actuate the friction clutch between the prime mover and the transmission in the power train of the motor vehicle. The piston of the master cylinder is reciprocable by or with a piston rod by way of a ball and socket joint wherein the ball of the piston rod is held against unintentional extraction from the socket of a connector forming part of or being anchored in the piston.

A transmission has a hydraulic control device ( ) to pressurize actuating members arranged on a rotary shaft ( ) through a fluid connection between the stationary hydraulic device and the rotary shaft. The fluid connection consists of coaxial tubular elements ( ) with a tubular passage channel between the inner and outer tubular elements. The tubular elements have sealed connections ( ) with the rotary shaft and the hydraulic device.

Hydraulically controlled transmission

A control device for controlling a continuously variable cone-pulley transmission has a hydraulic control unit with one or more valves ( ) in a hydraulic control unit housing ( ) and an electronic control unit ( ) with electronic components in an electronic control unit housing ( ). The hydraulic control unit and the electronic control unit are connected as one modular unit, and a holding volume ( ) for hydraulic fluid is provided between the hydraulic control unit housing ( ) and the electronic control unit housing ( ).

Control device

A hydraulic control device for a transmission of a motor vehicle has a housing with a bore hole and a valve piston that is contained in the bore hole and slidable between different axial positions. The shift levels of the transmission are determined by setting the axial position of the valve piston. Prior to installation of the control device on another part of the motor vehicle, the valve piston is secured by a safety element against axial movement. Installation of the control device causes the safety element to release the valve piston.

Hydraulic control device

A motor vehicle has a continuously variable transmission and a hydraulic device to perform the functions of changing as well as maintaining the ratio of the continuously variable transmission. The hydraulic device comprises a valve arrangement with at least one connector terminal for controlling a transmission ratio change and at least one connector terminal for maintaining the transmission ratio at a set level.

Motor vehicle with a continuously variable transmission and method of operating the motor vehicle

A valve for regulating the rate of flow and/or the pressure of oil flowing to a transmission or another consumer in the power train of a motor vehicle has a piston which defines with the valve housing a chamber for one or more springs and for oil being admitted through a first inlet by way of a first conduit containing a first throttle. A second inlet admits pressurized oil from a pump, and such oil can be admitted into the consumer by way of a first outlet and a second conduit containing a second throttle and supplying oil to the first conduit. A second outlet can deliver oil from the second inlet to the sump in response to shifting of the piston. A hydraulic seal is established between the piston and the housing intermediate the chamber and the second outlet to prevent leakage of oil from the chamber into the second outlet. Oil leaking from the chamber could adversely influence the characteristics of oil flowing into the consumer.

Fluid flow regulating valve and method

A fluid-operated system which can supply a pressurized fluid (e.g., oil) to one or more adjustable consumers (such as a clutch and/or a transmission) in a motor vehicle. The system employs one or more fluid pressurizing pumps and/or accumulators and an arrangement of valves in a path for pressurized fluid from the pressurizing unit(s) to the consumer(s). The valves can vary the fluid pressure in dependency upon at least one variable (such variable can be selected by a control unit in conjunction with an actor). In accordance with one presently preferred embodiment, the valves can cooperate with one or more flow restrictors to impart to the fluid in the path a first pressure within a first range of varying pressures as a first function of the at least one variable, and a second pressure within a second range of varying pressures as a different second function of the at least one variable. One of the valves can be embodied in or located outside of the mobile valving element and/or housing of another valve.
