The present invention relates to a method of fixedly locking support railings ( ) along a conveyor path. The support railings ( ) are of the type which has a circular cross section and are mounted in brackets ( ) in one or more rows. The fixedly locking takes place by means of a tool ( ) with two shanks ( ) which enter into engagement with the support railing ( ). A locking pin ( ) is placed between the upper side ( ) of the tool ( ) and the bracket ( ). The tool ( ) is thereafter turned so that the locking pin ( ) follows the periphery of the support railing ( ) until the upper side of the tool ( ) abuts against the bracket ( ). The locking pin ( ) has then reached a locking position. The method is re-usable.

Method of locking support railings along a conveyor path

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for detecting toppled packages (2) lying on a conveyor (1). The apparatus includes two pairs of photocells, an upper (4) and a lower (5), disposed as transmitter and receiver of a light beam (6). The photocell pairs (4, 5) are placed on either side of the conveyor path (1) so that the light beam (6) bisects the conveyor path (1) at a certain angle. The apparatus also includes a magnet valve (16) and a device (1) for removing a toppled package (2). The lower photocell pair (5) transmits, when the light beam (6) is broken, a signal to the upper photocell pair (4) which, when the light beam (6) is unbroken, transmits a signal to the magnet valve (16). The magnet valve (16) activates the device (10) which, for example, consists of an air nozzle (11), so that the toppled package (2) is blown off from the conveyor (1).

A method and an apparatus for marshalling objects from one ingoing conveyor to two outgoing conveyors is disclosed. Counting gaps are created by a belt brake operating at a slower speed than the ingoing conveyor. The counting gaps are registered by a pair of photocells, and two gates are maneuvered by a control unit. The gate downstream of the ingoing conveyor is of the single type, and the gate downstream of both of the outgoing conveyors is of the double type. The gates are mechanically interconnected and rotate towards one another in order to marshall the objects onto one or the other of the outgoing conveyors.

Method and an apparatus for marshalling objects

Conveyor assemblies, which by way of an endless chain, move foodstuff packages between different processing machines are customary in e.g. the dairy industry. Up to now the conveyor assembly generally was 'tailor-made' for each dairy, which entails unnecessary cost and other difficulties. In accordance with the present invention a conveyor assembly of a modular design is proposed which makes it easily adaptable to differnt needs and localities. More particularly, an intermediate guideway for an endless chain is made use of as a spacer element between supporting sides of the assembly, thus providing a simple and stable construction. Similarly shaped fastening devices, moreover, serve as joint pieces between different guideway sections, thus facilitating fitting-up and reducing cost.

Conveyor assemblies

An arrangement on a conveyor of the type which comprises a flexible chain whereupon objects, e.g. parallelepipedic packing containers, are conveyed. The conveyor comprises guide rails (4) located on either side of the chain (1) which steer the packing container. In curves the guide rails are substituted on the one side by a curve disc (5) having a sloping steering surface (8) which acts upon the packing container outwards against the guide rails located on the opposite side of the conveyor. As a result packing containers of different sizes can be conveyed on the conveyor without the conveyor needing adjustment.

Arrangement on conveyors

Joints in packing containers of heat-sealable gas-tight laminate are sensitive to deformation, since this often results in a deterioration of the gas-tightness. This is due to the accumulation of melted thermoplastics which is produced during the heat-sealing. This problem is eliminated in that the sealing zone of the joint is given a limited width and is placed at a distance from the edge of the laminate. A method and an arrangement for realizing this comprises a heating zone whose width is limited in relation to the width of the sealing jaws which are used for the sealing together of the material layers.
