A u-MDPS (United Motor Driven Power Steering) system includes one MDPS motor, one MDPS ECU that assists steering force using power of the MDPS motor, and has a logic implementing tilting-up/down and telescopic movement, and a multi-function generator that switches a power transmission path of the MDPS motor to the steering path for assisting a steering force, the tilt path for tilting up/down a column tube, or the telescopic path for facilitating a telescopic movement of the column tube. The multi-function generator may include a motor power converting unit, a motor power transmitting unit and a tilt&#x2022;telescopic motion unit. The tilt&#x2022;telescopic motion unit further includes an electromagnetic clutch, which makes it possible to implement fail-safety function by switching to a lock-manual mode of one MDPS motor.

A front-wheel suspension system comprises a steering gear frame, a control arm mounting connector, a lower control arm, a wheel carrier, and a damping device. The steering gear frame includes a front fixing plate and a rear fixing plate integrally formed on a front side and a rear side of a power cylinder and is coupled to a vehicle body. The control arm mounting connector is fixed in a longitudinal direction under the fixing plate. The lower control arm is provided with a vehicle body side connecting member coupled to both ends of the control arm mounting connector. The wheel carrier couples to a wheel side end portion of the lower control arm, rotatably supports a wheel, and is connected to a tie rod extended from the power cylinder. A damping device absorbs vertical vibration of the wheel.

Front-wheel suspension system using a steering gear frame

A vehicle model is developed for a quasi-static analysis. The quasi-static analysis is performed for the vehicle model under a cornering condition in which a specific lateral force acts. A finite screw axis is determined based on a rigid body displacement of the vehicle model with respect to the ground through the quasi-static analysis. A fixed screw axis surface formed by a migration of the finite screw axis is also determined. The gradients of screw parameters with respect to lateral forces when the vehicle model behaves in an initial cornering state are calculated. Roll behavior is then estimated based on the fixed screw axis surface and gradients of screw parameters.

The present invention provides a suspension layout using a steering gear frame, in which a steering apparatus assembly and a sub-frame are combined in a single structure. The sub-frame includes a plurality of side members, which are provided along the longitudinal direction of the vehicle frame and at a predetermined distance from each other. A cross member extends in the direction of the width of the vehicle and fixedly connects the side members. The steering apparatus assembly includes steering gear motors that are provided for each side member and cooperate through steering transmitting assemblies to rotate steering knuckles.

A vehicle suspension system for a steerable drive wheel includes a wheel carrier for rotatably supporting a wheel; an outer upper control arm having a first end pivotally coupled to the wheel carrier and a second end. There is an inner upper control arm having a first end pivotally coupled to the second end of the outer upper control arm and a second end coupled to a subframe, and a lower control arm having front and rear control arms to connect a lower end of the wheel carrier to the subframe and a vehicle body, respectively. A connecting link having an upper end coupled to a middle portion of the outer upper control arm and a lower end coupled to the lower control arm, and a strut assembly for absorbing vibration and impact transmitted in an up and down direction, which is formed with a shock absorber and a spring. A lower end of the strut assembly is positioned on an upper surface of the outer upper control arm and an upper end of the strut assembly being supported on a supporting portion of the subframe.

This invention relates to a suspension system which can improve controllability and stability of the vehicle and ride comfort by automatically controlling a height of a roll center in accordance with the vehicle's running conditions.
