The disc loading device includes a loading roller for loading a disc in a main frame, an eject lever for discharging the disc out of the main frame, and a main slider operating the eject lever, and moving in a direction by a disc emergency ejection pin inserted from outside of the main frame.

Provided are an optical disc drive and method for driving the optical disc drive. The method includes transporting a disc to a chucking position where a spindle is positioned using a loading roller, blocking power transferred from a loading motor to the loading roller, and chucking the disc on the spindle using power from the loading motor. Accordingly, damages to the disc caused by chucking may be prevented.

Provided is a disk loading apparatus which includes a frame base on which a spindle motor is mounted. The apparatus includes a disk loading structure that loads a disk on the spindle motor, a plurality of sliders operating in connection with a loading lever, and a plurality of gears transferring the motive power to the plurality of sliders. The apparatus also includes a plurality of shafts to which the gears are coupled, and a plurality of slider guide walls that guide movement of the plurality of sliders. According to various aspects, the shafts and the slider guide walls are formed integrally with the frame base.

A disc loading apparatus includes a frame base, and a sub-frame disposed on the frame base and including a turntable configured to drive a disc. The disc loading apparatus also includes a loading lever disposed on the frame base and configured to load the disc on the turntable. An optical pickup transferring apparatus including a slider having a base, a floating portion elastically coupled to the base, the floating portion having on one side thereof at least one protuberance inserted into the external thread of a lead screw, and an elastic element located on the top of the base and the floating portion. The elastic element includes a first elastic portion to push the floating portion toward the lead screw so that the protuberance is inserted into the external thread, and a second elastic portion to push the floating portion toward the screw groove to thereby prevent the protuberance from escaping from the external thread when the floating portion is transformed elastically.

A disk cartridge and a disk recording and/or reproduction apparatus including a protrusion group which is made up of a plurality of protrusions and formed within a case housing a disk or within a housing in which a disk is loaded. Accordingly, the protrusions induce the flow of air generated during the rotation of the disk to serve as a force generated by variations in flow velocity and pressure. Therefore, foreign materials can be effectively removed from the surface of the disk using the flow of air without a separate cleaning apparatus.

A tray guide mechanism for an optical disc drive guides a backward and forward movement of a tray installed to slide into and out of a housing made of a lower case and an upper case. The tray guide mechanism includes guide rails installed to slide into and out of both sides of the upper case, a guide rail supporting unit installed at both sides of the lower case, to prevent the guide rails from deviating from a backward and forward moving path, and rail combiners formed at both sides of the tray in a moving path of the tray, and combined with the guide rails to slide into the guide rails. The tray guide mechanism also includes a forward moving distance limiting unit to limit a moving distance of the tray and the guide rails in a direction to which the tray and the guide rails project to prevent the tray from detaching from the housing. The tray guide mechanism also includes vertical and horizontal restrainers to prevent vertical and horizontal movement of the tray. The guide rails are shaped such that the rail combiners are inserted thereinto, and includes rails which slide into and out of the rail combiners while remaining in contact with the rail combiners. The guide rails also include rail covers which are fixed to outer sides of the rails and slide into and out of the lower case while being in contact with the lower case. The tray guide mechanism is configured such that a guide rail is installed in contact with a rail and a rail cover, and thus is strengthened to firmly support the tray and is installed in a narrow space of the compact optical disc drive. Also, the tray guide mechanism includes the vertical and horizontal restrainers that prevent vertical and horizontal vibration or swaying of the tray.
