The present invention discloses a Double Metal Cyanide (DMC) catalyst(s) useful for the production of polyether polyols (PEPO) and a less energy intensive room temperature method for the synthesis thereof. The catalyst(s) comprises of a DMC complex, an organic complexing agent, i.e., ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and other co-complexing organic agents, e.g., t-BuOH, PEPO of composition ranging from about 1 to 10 wt %, wherein the average molecular weight of PEPO used ranged from 200 to 1000. A method of preparing a series of DMC catalyst(s) at room temperature with varying compositional ratios of the complexing and co-complexing agents targeting a wide range of PEPO of varying kinematic viscosity range is also disclosed. These DMC catalyst(s) are amorphous, highly active, and easily separable from product PEPO with recyclability/recoverability, making the product PEPO better industrially applicable and DMC catalyst more cost-effective.

Double metal cyanide catalyst for the production of polyether polyols and a process thereof

A method for desulfurizing crude oil and sulfur rich petroleum refinery fractions is disclosed. The method includes feeding the crude oil and sulfur rich petroleum refinery fractions to a reactor. An oxidation catalyst is added to the crude oil and sulfur rich petroleum refinery fractions. The crude oil and sulfur rich petroleum refinery fractions and the oxidation catalyst are stirred to form co-polymers of sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds. The co-polymers of sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds are separated by filtration or by centrifugation.

Method for reactive desulfurization of crude oil and sulfur rich petroleum refinery fractions

The embodiments of the present invention disclose a composition for the colorimetric detection of water in hydrocarbon fuels and a process for the preparation thereof. The embodiments of the present invention relate to an improved method for determining the presence or absence of water in non-polar organic fluids such as petroleum oil or hydrocarbon oils by using an indicator system containing a water insoluble wetting agent and a water soluble dye which can be performed rapidly without costly instrumentation and tedious, time consuming analytical methods.
