A finishing apparatus of an image forming apparatus and a method for controlling the same are disclosed, in which various block modules performing finishing functions are provided and a user can selectively use any module by detachably fixing the same in a copier. The finishing apparatus includes a paper conveyer module detachably fixed to an image tray module, a mail box module, a finisher module, and a booklet module, the paper conveyer module being detachably fixed in a copier. The paper conveyer module includes a controller sensing whether the respective modules are detachably provided to selectively control functions of the respective modules in accordance with an output signal of the copier. In addition, paper path switch devices provided in the paper conveyer module include a plurality of paper dispensers that dispense papers in three or more directions.

Finishing apparatus of image forming apparatus

A tape feeder and a method of controlling the same are disclosed, in which an automatic feeding tape and a manual feeding tape are selectively fed to a binding device. In the method of controlling a tape feeder comprising a tape feeding portion structured to selectively feed manual feeding tapes and automatic feeding tapes to a tape heating unit, a stack cassette having the automatic feeding tapes therein, and a tape moving path moving the automatic feeding tapes in the stack cassette to the tape feeding portion, wherein the tape moving path includes a slot into which the manual feeding tapes are externally input, an automatic feeding tape sensor, and a tape feeding sensor, and the tape feeding portion includes a tape aligning position sensor sensing the position where the automatic feeding tape or the manual feeding tape has been fed to the tape heating unit, the method is characterized in that the manual feeding tape prior to the automatic feeding tape is moved to the tape feeding portion by a signal of the tape feeding sensor when the automatic feeding tape sensor and the tape feeding sensor respectively sense the automatic feeding tape and the manual feeding tape.

A paper binding system of an image forming apparatus, such as a printer and a copier, and a method for controlling the same are disclosed, in which finishing processes such as stapling and folding are performed by exactly gripping papers ejected from the image forming apparatus without any scattering. The paper binding system of the image forming apparatus includes a paper moving meansmoving papers ejected from the image forming apparatus, a paper positioning unittemporarily receiving the papers moved from the paper moving means and positioning them, a stapler unitstapling the papers received in the paper positioning unit, a folding meansfolding the stapled papers, and an eject trayreceiving the papers finished through the stapler unit and/or the folding means.

Paper binding system of image forming apparatus and method for controlling the same

Disclosed is a paper processing unit for a binding device that can improve moving efficiency of a sheet of papers and prevent side binding error of the sheet of papers. The paper processing unit comprises a paper aligning unit including a tray stacking the sheet of papers, a rotational stopper provided at the end of the tray, stopping the sheet of papers stacked on the tray, and a paper clamp gripping the sheet of papers stacked on the tray and moving them to the paper finishing unit when stopping of the rotational stopper is released, and a binding carriage having a lifting unit structured to support the sheet of papers and adjust the angle of the sheet of papers depending on the binding position while the paper clamp moves the sheet of papers to the paper finishing unit and the binding process of the sheet of papers is performed, wherein the angle of the sheet of papers of which binding is finished is adjusted to move them to the position of the receiving stacker and an open tray is extended to the end of the tray to close and open.
