Embodiments of the present invention relate to eyewear having an electrically switchable spectral transmittance lens(es). The eyewear includes a lens driver that controls the variable spectral transmittance lens(es). The lens driver is functional to alter a duration of a spectral transmittance state based on a desired frequency and/or duty cycle of the spectral transmittance state. A user may provide an input indicating the desired level of difficulty provided by the eyewear, wherein the input may indicate that the frequency, the duty cycle, or a combination of the two should be changed. As a result of changing a perceived level of difficulty presented by the eyewear, a wearer of the eyewear may train his or her visual abilities to provide a competitive advantage. The input may be received at a receiving module as a remote signal from the user or a third party.

Embodiments of the present invention relate to curved eyewear having an electrically switchable spectral transmittance lens. The lens is curved in orientation, which aids in reducing eyelash contact while increasing a peripheral field of view for a wearer of the curved eyewear. The electrically switchable spectral transmittance lens, in an embodiment, includes a plurality of zones that may be switched in-phase or out-of-phase with each other depending on an activity being performed. Another embodiment utilizes a shatter-resistant material for constructing the lens. Further embodiments utilize a frame member that includes a curved channel for forming the curved orientation of the lens and for maintaining the lens in a desired position relative to a wearer.

A sports glasses construction includes an eyeglass frame for semi-rimless lenses having a pair of channels for receiving a first pair of selectively removable lenses or lens adapter frames, and a pair of lens adapter frames having respective upper connection members sized and shaped to fit into the respective pair of channels in the eyeglass frame. The pair of lens adapters each has a lower portion sized and shaped to couple to a second respective pair of lenses leaving the lower edges of the lenses exposed to provide a semi-rimless construction.

Eyewear includes a frame having a right temple arm, a left temple arm, a first lens groove, a second lens groove, and a recess formed therein. A first lens is received in the first lens groove and has a first opening formed therein. A first tab is received in the first lens groove. A nosepiece has a base portion received in the recess in the frame, and engages the first and second openings to removably secure the first and second lenses to the frame.
