A system for sensing the presence and concentration of ethylene in a gas stream includes an ethylene sensor, an ethylene scrubber, a COscrubber, gas flow control valves, a pump, and electrical components to receive and analyze the electrical signals generated by the ethylene sensor as the ethylene concentration in the gas stream changes. The system, in a controlled manner, alternatively feeds quantities of the gas stream being analyzed to the ethylene sensor or through scrubber components of the system. The ethylene sensor comprises conductive polymeric nanofibers functionalized to detect the presence of ethylene and generate an electrical signal that changes as the ethylene concentration changes.

Materials are disclosed for the safe sequestration and removal of hazardous contaminants from a surface. The materials can be sprayed, rolled, painted, brushed or dip coated onto any surface and allowed to dry and/or cure at room temperature or drying/curing can be accelerated by the application of heat to form a coating that entraps the contaminant therein. The coating and the entrapped contaminant can then peeled from the surface and safely disposed of to minimize hazardous waste. The coating includes a colorimetric additive that is specific to the contaminant, the coating and the contaminant producing a visual indication of contamination.

In particular, the coatings use two types of nanoscale particles, colloidal silica and porous organosilicate micelles, in a polyurethane matrix. The invention is an anti-fog coating for optically clear substrates (polycarbonate, polyurethane, nylon, polyester and other clear plastics) without the need for a primer and glass substrates with an additional primer layer, comprising monosized colloidal silica nanoparticles and porous organosilicate micelles in a polyurethane matrix. The silica is preferably 1-5% by weight and the micelles are loaded at 0.1 to 10% volume percentage by volume. The polyurethane prepolymer is dissolved at 10-40% by weight in a mixture of tertiary amyl alcohol and diacetone alcohol to customize for dip, flow or spray coating processes.

Hydrophilic anti-fog coatings

The present invention relates to a modular chemiresistive sensor. In particular, a modular chemiresistive sensor for hypergolic fuel and oxidizer leak detection, carbon dioxide monitoring and detection of disease biomarkers. The sensor preferably has two gold or platinum electrodes mounted on a silicon substrate where the electrodes are connected to a power source and are separated by a gap of 0.5 to 4.0 &#x3bc;M. A polymer nanowire or carbon nanotube spans the gap between the electrodes and connects the electrodes electrically. The electrodes are further connected to a circuit board having a processor and data storage, where the processor can measure current and voltage values between the electrodes and compare the current and voltage values with current and voltage values stored in the data storage and assigned to particular concentrations of a pre-determined substance such as those listed above or a variety of other substances.

The present disclosure relates to a dosimeter for measuring exposure to heat over time in combination with peak temperature indicators and reversible temperature indicators. The preferred temperature indicator tag is credit card sized and comprises four time-temperature dosimeters. Each dosimeter has a wick in contact with a separate reservoir containing a mix of a colored dye, a wax and an amorphous polymer to indicate a distinct temperature range when the mix melts. The wicks are preferably made of porous paper with a pore size around 8 microns to allow for proper capillary action along its length. An adhesive, except where each wick contacts its respective reservoir and at a vent, preferably seals each wick. The tag preferably has a plurality of peak temperature indicators where each indicator has a blend of a dye, a wax and a polymer for a temperature indication range. The tag also preferably has a plurality of reversible temperature sensors.
