An apparatus is disclosed for a surface-acoustic-wave filter using lithium niobate (LiNbO). In an example aspect, the apparatus includes at least one surface-acoustic-wave filter including an electrode structure, a substrate layer, and a piezoelectric layer disposed between the electrode structure and the substrate layer. The piezoelectric layer includes lithium niobate material configured to enable propagation of an acoustic wave across its planar surface in a direction along a first filter axis. A second filter axis is along the planar surface and perpendicular to the first filter axis. A third filter axis is normal to the planar surface. An orientation of the first, second, and third filter axes is relative to a crystalline structure of the lithium niobate material as defined by Euler angles &#x3bb;, &#x3bc;, and &#x3b8;. A value of &#x3bc; has a range approximately from &#x2212;70&#xb0; to &#x2212;55&#xb0; or at least one symmetrical equivalent.

An electroacoustic component includes a carrier substrate and a piezosubstrate having piezoelectric properties. The electroacoustic component also includes a layer system between the carrier substrate and the piezosubstrate.

An electroacoustic component includes a substrate that includes a quartz single crystal. The quartz single crystal has a first Euler angle &#x3bb;: &#x2212;5&#xb0;&#x2266;&#x3bb;&#x2266;5&#xb0;, a second Euler angle &#x3bc;, and a third Euler angle &#x3b8;. An electroacoustic component that includes a substrate made of monocrystalline LiNbOis disclosed. A component working with guided acoustic waves includes a layer system configured to guide waves in a lateral plane. The layer system includes a piezoelectric layer, electrodes on the piezoelectric layer for exciting the wave, a dielectric layer with an acoustic impedance, and an adjustment layer with an acoustic impedance. A ratio of the acoustic impedance of the adjustment layer to the acoustic impedance of the dielectric layer is greater than 1.5.

Component operated by guided acoustic waves

A component working with guided bulk acoustic waves includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a layer system between the first and second substrates. The layer system includes a metal layer and a dielectric layer. A ratio of the acoustic impedance of the metal layer to the acoustic impedance of the dielectric layer is greater than or equal to 4.5.

An electroacoustic component operates with guided acoustic waves and includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a metallic layer and an intermediate layer. The first substrate (S) is made from a monocrystalline LiTaO. The metallic layer is arranged between the first substrate and the intermediate layer. The intermediate layer is arranged between the metallic layer and the second substrate. The crystal section of monocrystalline LiTaOis chosen such that for the second Euler angle &#x3bc;: &#x2212;100&#xb0;&#x2266;&#x3bc;&#x2266;&#x2212;40&#xb0; or &#x2212;160&#xb0;&#x2266;&#x3bc;&#x2266;&#x2212;130&#xb0;. For the first Euler angle &#x3bb;, preferably &#x3bb;=0&#xb0; and for the third Euler angle &#x3b8;, &#x2212;10&#xb0;&#x2266;&#x3b8;&#x2266;10&#xb0;.

Electroacoustic component operating with guided bulk acoustic waves

A component includes a filter having a first structure and a second structure. The component also includes a substrate on which the first and second structures are arranged. The first structure has an approximately uniform layer thickness and an approximately uniform composition. The second structure has an approximately uniform layer thickness and an approximately uniform composition. At least one of the layer thickness or composition of the first structure differs from the layer thickness or composition of the second structure.

An apparatus including a piezoelectric substrate having at least one transducer electrode structure. The structure having a metallization formed by one or more metals with a mean specific density that is at least 50% higher than that of aluminum. The structure having a compensation layer that is applied fully or partially over the metallization. The compensation layer is of a material having a temperature dependence of elastic constants that counteracts the temperature coefficient of frequency of the substrate. The compensation layer has a thickness that is less than 15% of an acoustic wavelength of a wave capable of propagation in the structure.

An electroacoustic transducer includes a first electrode having first fingers connected to a first bus bar, and a second electrode having second fingers connected to a second bus bar. The first and second fingers interdigitate and terminate at ends. The ends of the first and second fingers abut gaps between the first and second electrodes. An acoustic wave of wavelength &#x3bb; is excitable at a resonant frequency. The acoustic wave has a longitudinal and a transverse excitation profile and a longitudinal and a transverse energy density profile, where the longitudinal excitation profile is approximately constant and different from the longitudinal energy density profile, and the transverse excitation profile substantially corresponds to the transverse energy density profile. Transverse positions of the gaps relative to the first and second bus bars vary to substantially correspond to the transverse excitation profile across the gaps.

Electroacoustic transducer for a surface wave operating component

A component operating with surface-proximal acoustic waves, in particular a filter with novel structure, has interdigital transducers arranged in serial and parallel branches, which are acoustically coupled with one another in different configurations. The component provides a loss-poor filter with simultaneously space-saving arrangement of the filter elements.
