A bonding process is described in which two substrates are bonded together by applying to the surface of at least one of the substrates a curable, not yet cured 2-component adhesive that comprises, in a first component, a compound A having at least one defined cyclic thiocarbonate unit having a five-membered ring structure and, in a second component, a curing compound B selected from compounds having at least one functional group selected from primary amine groups and secondary amine groups.

Adhesive method using two-component adhesives based on compounds having cyclothiocarbonate units

A process can be used for preparing cyclic carbonates with an exocyclic vinylidene group by reacting a propargylic alcohol with COin the presence of a silver catalyst having at least one bulky ligand a lipophilic carboxylate ligand. After completion of the reaction, the catalyst is separated from the cyclic carbonate by the use of two organic solvents of different polarity and having a miscibility gap. The silver catalyst is enriched in the less polar solvent and the cyclic carbonate in the more polar solvent.

Process for preparing cyclic carbonates with an exocyclic vinylidene group

The use of an aqueous polyurethane dispersion adhesive is described for producing composite foils which are biodisintegratable at home compost conditions where at least two substrates are adhesive-bonded to one another with use of the polyurethane dispersion adhesive, where at least one of the substrates is a polymer foil which is biodisintegratable at home compost conditions. At least 60% by weight of the polyurethane is composed of diisocyanates, polyesterdiols, and at least one bifunctional carboxylic acid selected from dihydroxy carboxylic acids and diamino carboxylic acids, wherein the polyurethane has no melting point above 20° C. or wherein the polyurethane has a melting point above 20° C. with an enthalpy of fusion lower than 10 J/g, and wherein a film of the polyurethane adhesive is biodegradable at home compost conditions.

Composite foils biodisintegratable at home compost conditions

A method is described for debonding a bonded article. The bonded article comprises at least two components which are bonded to one another by means of a polyurethane adhesive selected from aqueous polyurethane dispersion adhesives and polyurethane hotmelt adhesives. At least one of the components is a thermoplastic polyurethane. The components are debonded by treatment with an aqueous surfactant composition at elevated temperatures.

Plasticizer migration-resistant, UV-curable hotmelt adhesive for graphics films and labels made of plasticized PVC Described here is a UV-curable hotmelt adhesive largely resistant to plasticizer migration and comprising a UV-crosslinkable poly(meth)acrylate formed from methyl acrylate, C4-18 alkyl (meth)acrylate, monomer with acid groups, copolymerized photoinitiator and optionally further monomers. The hotmelt adhesive further comprises an aliphatic polyester polymer. The use of the hotmelt adhesive on graphics films and self-adhesive labels made of plasticized PVC is also described.

Such compounds are obtainable from specific 4-oxy-but-2-yn-1-ol derivatives, or used as intermediate(s), crosslinker(s), or monomer(s) in polymerization or oligomerization reactions, or for two-component compositions having such compound(s) and multifunctional hardener(s). Such compound(s) may be used to prepare polyunsaturated compounds, by reaction with an (oligo/poly)-functional nucleophile, or polymers.

Monomers comprising at least one 4-(2-oxyethylidene)-1,3-dioxolan-2-one unit and use thereof

A description is given of the use of compounds having n 2-oxo-1,3-dioxolane-4-carboxamide units as a reactive component in 2-component adhesives, especially for preparing hydroxypolyurethanes or hydroxypolycarbonates for adhesives applications, where n is a number greater than or equal to 2. A description is also given of corresponding two-component adhesives and adhesive bonding methods. Employed preferably as a second component of the two-component adhesive is a polyfunctional curing agent compound which is preferably selected from polyamines which have two or more amine groups and polyols which have two or more alcoholic hydroxyl groups.

Described are polyurethane-vinyl hybrid polymers, methods of making them and their use. The hybrid polymers are made from an anionic polyurethane and a polymerizable vinyl compound, wherein the polymerizable vinyl compound is selected from methylene malonates, methylene beta-ketoesters and methylene beta-diketones. The hybrid polymers can be used as binder in structural adhesives, as binder in pressure-sensitive adhesives, as binder in laminating adhesives, as binder in contact adhesives, as binder in ink, as binder in paints, as binder in coatings, as binder for fiber bonding, as binder for particle bonding or as binder in high cohesion adhesive tapes.

Polyurethane-vinyl hybrid polymers, methods of making them and their use

Also described is a method for damping oscillations or vibrations of components of vehicles and machines, using the sound deadener composition of the invention.

Non-aqueous sound-absorbing compound with a solvent-free polyacrylate binder

A description is given of a nonaqueous sound deadener composition comprising (a) a nonpulverulent polyacrylate binder having a K value in the range from 10 to 35, measured as a 1% strength solution in tetrahydrofuran; (b) inorganic fillers; and a radically polymerizable compound which has at least one radically polymerizable C&#x2014;C double bond and possesses a boiling point at atmospheric pressure of greater than 160&#xb0; C.
