A composition including a buffered lactic acid having a pH within the range of from 3.0 to 6.5 is disclosed. The composition is a lubricant composition and has a water activity of from 0.03 to 0.60. The friction between the absorbent product and the skin/mucous membrane of the user is reduced when in contact with the skin or mucous membrane of the user. An additional advantage is that the composition has a pH in the acidic range which is close to the pH of the skin and/or mucous membrane.

Sanitary article comprising a microbe-inhibiting composition

An absorbent article such as a sanitary napkin, panty liner, tampon, diaper, pant diaper, adult incontinence guard, containing a bacterial composition () in a lipid phase (), the bacterial composition containing at least one lactic acid producing bacterial strain. The lipid phase () containing said bacterial composition () is applied on or in a carrier member () which at least before use of the article is impermeable to the lipid phase. A novel strain of, denoted strain Ess-1, which has been deposited at Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen GmbH and has been assigned accession number DSM17851., strain Ess-1, has shown valuable properties in the inhibition of, and has medical uses, in particular for the treatment and/or prevention of candidasis and urinary tract infections. In addition, pharmaceutical products and articles include the novel bacterial strain.

A delivery device for a sanitary article includes an encapsulating material with a first layer and a second layer, enclosing an additive in a space formed by these layers of encapsulating material. The delivery device also includes a third layer, positioned above the second layer of encapsulating material. The third layer extends beyond and thereby covers substantially all of the edges of the second layer of encapsulating material. The third layer may also extend into and throughout the space formed between the first and second layers of encapsulating material that enclose the additive. The third layer thereby protects the user of a product comprising the delivery device from contact with the edges of the second layer of encapsulating material and also provides a means for attaching the delivery device to an article to keep it in place during transport storage and use. The invention also relates to sanitary articles, such as hygiene tissues and absorbent articles, containing the delivery device.

Delivery device

An absorbent article such as a sanitary napkin, panty liner, incontinence protector, diaper, includes an absorbent structure () with a first and a second side, a moisture sensitive additive (), such as a bacterial composition, and a carrier member (). The carrier member () includes a first and a second water-vapor impermeable material layer (), the material layers are sealed together by a sealing () to form a water-vapor impermeable volume () there between holding the moisture sensitive additive (). The carrier member () is located on the first or the second side of the absorbent structure ().

An absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, a panty liner or a female incontinence napkin, is intended to be carried in the crotch part of the wearer inside her underwear, has a generally elongate shape and includes two long sides, two short sides, two end-portions, a center portion located between the end-portions, a liquid-permeable casing sheet that is intended to lie proximal to the wearer's body in use, a liquid-impermeable casing sheet that is intended to lie distal form the wearer's body in use, and further includes between the layers, as seen in a direction from the liquid-permeable casing sheet towards the liquid-impermeable casing sheet, a drainage layer, an absorption layer, and a hump-forming element which forms together with the drainage layer and the absorption layer a hump that projects out from the plane of the napkin on that side of the napkin which is intended to lie proximal to the wearer in the use. In one embodiment, at least one cut is made through the drainage sheet and the absorption layer, and the hump-forming element is pushed up through these layers.

An absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, a panty liner, or a protector from female incontinence, is intended for wear in the crotch region of the wearer inside her underclothes. The article is generally elongate in shape and has two long sides, two short sides, two end-portions, a center portion disposed between the end-portions, a liquid-permeable casing sheet intended to lie proximal to the wearer's body in use, a liquid-impermeable casing sheet intended to lie distal from the wearer's body in use, and between the layers in a direction from the liquid-permeable casing sheet and towards the liquid-impermeable casing sheet a drainage layer, an absorption layer, and a hump-forming element which together with the drainage layer and the absorption layer forms a hump which projects out from the plane of the napkin on that side of the napkin which is intended to lie proximal to the wearer in use. At least one cut is made through the drainage layer and the absorption layer, and the hump-forming element is protruded up through the layers.
