A milling insert for a side and face milling tool includes an upper side defining an upper extension plane, a lower side defining a lower extension plane, and a side surface extending between the upper and the lower sides around a periphery of the insert that includes a main radial clearance surface, two opposite axial clearance surfaces and two corner clearance surfaces. At least one cutting edge is formed in a transition between the upper and the side surfaces, wherein each cutting edge includes a main cutting edge extending above the main radial clearance surface and two corner cutting edges extending above the corner clearance surfaces on opposite sides of the main cutting edge. The main cutting edge slopes downward toward a midpoint of the main cutting edge and the main cutting edge and the main radial clearance surface slope outward from the corner cutting edges toward the midpoint.

Milling insert and a side and face milling tool

A milling tool has a basic body rotatable about a center axis, and including an outside, which includes a pair of opposite front and back sides, as well as a peripheral envelope surface. The body is equipped with a plurality of replaceable cutting inserts. The basic body includes an inner hollow space having an internal limiting surface, in which there collectively mouth a plurality of bores. The bores also mouth in the outside. Each cutting insert is mounted on an outer end of an ejector, which is rectilinearly movable in the individual bore and has an inner end accessible from the hollow space, and which interacts with a compressible force generator, to pull the same into the bore. By mounting the cutting inserts on ejectors, which simultaneously are accessible from a common hollow space, the cutting inserts can be replaced fast and easily, and possibly also be indexed.

Milling tool

An indexable milling cutting insert includes an opposed outside and inside, a periphery, and a plurality of homologous and alternately individually usable cutting edges, which are equidistantly spaced apart from a center axis, which extends between the outside and inside. The cutting insert includes a plurality of countersunk chip channels, which are delimited by bottoms and tangentially spaced-apart ridges, which individually include a cutting edge formed between a chip surface included in a first chip channel, and a clearance surface, which borders on a second chip channel.

Indexable milling cutting insert

A tool for a chip removing machining includes a basic body and a replaceable cutting insert, which is indexable by a cutting edge exchange mechanism. The cutting edge mechanism includes an ejector, which in a front part has an attachment for the cutting insert and interacts with a device for transforming a rectilinear, axial projection of the ejector into a simultaneous turning of the same. The cutting edge exchange mechanism includes a stop collar, which is fixedly anchored in relation to the basic body, and through which the ejector is movable back and forth and a carrier included in a rear part of the ejector. In addition, between the carrier and the stop collar, there is arranged a mechanical compression spring, which spaces the carrier from the stop collar. In addition, an autonomous cutting edge exchange mechanism is disclosed.

Tool for chip removing machining as well as a cutting edge exchange mechanism therefor

A milling tool has single sided and indexable milling inserts having a round basic shape. Each milling insert has a plurality of tangentially spaced-apart and alternately usable cutting edges, which individually fall archedly from a first end, situated closest to an upper reference plane, to a lowest point, from which it again rises toward a second end. A reinforcing chamfer surface included in the cutting edge is formed with an increasing width in a direction from the first end of the cutting edge toward the second end.

Milling tool as well as a milling insert therefor

A milling tool is equipped with milling inserts, below which there are disposed shim plates, the primary function of which is to protect the basic body of the tool in the event of insert breakdowns. The shim plate is formed with a protuberance, in which an auxiliary cutting edge is included, which, in the assembled state of the tool, is located along an inactive cutting edge, which is situated radially inside an active chip removing cutting edge. By means of the auxiliary cutting edge, the milling tool can be utilized for ramping operations without risk of the inactive cutting edge of the milling insert being damaged.

Milling tool for chip removing machining

In one aspect, the invention relates to a double-sided, indexable milling insert comprising two rake faces, between which there extends a circumferential clearance face that, in transition to the rake faces, together with the same, forms peripheral cutting edges. Each rake face including lock means for rotationally securing the milling insert in one of several index positions. Along the periphery of the individual rake face, a plurality of tangentially spaced-apart cutting edges are formed, which individually rise at an acute pitch angle from a first end toward a second one. A rake surface is positioned radially inside the individual cutting edge following the cutting edge by rising from a lower boundary line to a crest, via which the same transforms into a declining shoulder surface, which serves as a rotationally securing lock means. In addition, each rake face comprises individual bearing surfaces, which are situated between pairs of adjacent rake surfaces and on a different level from the same. In a further aspect, the invention also relates to a milling tool that is equipped with one or more milling inserts.

Milling tool as well as a milling insert

A cutting insert for chip removing machining of workpieces, including at least one chip-removal surface that carries away chips, at least one side surface that is a clearance surface, and at least one cutting edge formed between the at least one chip-removal surface and the at least one side surface. The cutting edge includes a main-edge segment that carries out a major part of a chip-removing operation, and a wiping-edge segment that, in the chip-removing operation, wipes off and levels a machined surface of the workpiece. The wiping-edge segment forms a depression.
