The drive device has cam discs (18a, 18b) via which both the relative pivoting of the clamping jaws (4, 28) and the longitudinal displacement of the pull-rod (37) can be controlled.

Stripping pliers

A device for stripping conductor ends contains two stripping devices arranged in a mouth formed by clamping jaws. The two stripping devices can be displaced in a longitudinal direction of the mouth. At least one of the stripping devices includes a stack of laminates which are located side by side. The stack can be moved transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the mouth and has cutting edges which penetrate into insulation of a conductor which is held by the clamping jaws when the mouth is closed. A laminate guidance device is matched to the profile of the conductor and controls the laminate transverse movement in a corresponding manner. The laminate guidance device is located on the rear side of the laminate stack.

Stripping device

Tongs for dressing conductor ends have two handles (3, 11) which can move relative to one another, at least two dressing stations (4, 8), and a drive device (10, 12, 20), via which the dressing stations can be driven during operation of the handles. At least one (18, 19) of the dressing stations (4, 8; 18, 19) can be coupled to the drive device (10, 12, 20) with the aid of the conductor end (28) which is to be dressed. The dressing station which can be coupled to the drive device is thus driven only when this is also actually required.

Tongs for dressing conductor ends

Core end sleeves (22) are linked to one another in the form of a belt and in each case have a metal sleeve (70) in the front region and a plastic sleeve (71), which partially engages over the metal sleeve (70), in the rear region, via which the core end sleeves are connected to one another. The plastic sleeves are in each case provided on their rear end with a projection (72) which points to the rear and rests on an outer side of the belt. The height, running at right angles to the plane of the belt, of the projection (72) is independent of the diameter of the plastic sleeves (71). Core end sleeves (22) for different conductor cross-sections can thus be transported using one and the same core end sleeve guide track (63) which has a guide groove (67) on its one side wall (65) for the projections (72).

Pliers for dressing conductor ends have two handles (3, 11) which can move relative to one another, a plurality of dressing stations for the conductor ends, and a drive device (21) via which the dressing stations can be driven during operation of the handles (3, 11). One of the dressing stations is constructed as a crimping drum (18) which can be displaced axially and is supported such that it can rotate and be coupled to the drive device (21) in the axially displaced position over only one dressing process. In this position, the station can be locked via a flange (52) which projects radially from it. This flange (52) extends over the overall circumference of the crimping drum (18) and has at least one recess (51). A locking tab (50a), which is arranged in a fixed position on the body (2) of the pliers and is radially opposite the flange (52), engages, in the undisplaced axial position of the crimping drum (18), into the recess (51), to be precise up to a point close to the outer surface of the crimping drum (18) while, in the axially displaced and rotated position of the crimping drum (18), the locking tab (50a) comes to rest above the outer surface of the crimping drum and engages behind the flange (52). Locking of the crimping drum (18) both in the rotational direction and in the axial displacement direction is thus possible by the locking tab (50a).

Pliers for dressing conductor ends

The invention relates to end cutters, in particular for cutting through cables, having two flat loose blades which are located one on top of the other, and rotatable about a common rotation shaft and can be driven by means of a drive device. Each loose blade is in this case acted on by a suitable cam disc which is located in the plane of the blade and is coupled to the drive device. A desired force response while cutting up material in the form of ropes can be achieved in a simple manner by selection of the radii of the cam discs.

End cutters

Pliers having a pair of handles and a pair of shank members have one member of a die pair for treating a workpiece on each of the shank members. The die members are attached to the inner sides of the shank members rotatably about an axis situated in the tool plane, and a follower is provided to ensure their corotation. The workpiece may be introduced into the die pair frontally or laterally, depending on the rotational position of the die pair. In one embodiment, the die members are also pivotable about axes extending at right angles to the tool plane. The pliers may be used in many applications such as crimping electrical terminals.

Connectors with a barrel-shaped ferrule are produced from an intermediate which is embodied by metallic strip consisting of a plurality of connector blanks linked together by interconnecting means, each blank comprising a first ferrule-forming part and a second tongue-forming part, and including a first zone which comprises all the first parts, and an adjacent second zone which comprises all the second parts and all the interconnecting means, the side edges of neighbouring first parts in the strip being separated by free interspaces and a continuous layer or cover of insulating material being adhesively applied on the first zone, on at least one obverse surface of the strip, so as to extend beyond a terminal edge of the first part, the said layer being within said interspaces cut through and bent so as to form at least one flap sufficiently large to adhere when folded back.

Methods of producing intermediates for connectors with insulated ferrules

In a manually operated pliers-type tool comprising an elongated tool body with a part defining an operative section with two carrier means for operative means such as crimping die members, and a longitudinal operating lever, which is journalled to the tool body and together therewith defines a reverse handle arrangement, projects that part of the tool body and tool, which defines the operative section, in the direction from which the operating lever is attached to the tool body, and the operating lever terminates, in its folded-down position, before that projecting part, and is level therewith. In a preferred embodiment, one of the carrier means is embodied by at least one rocker which is pivotably mounted in the operative section with the aid of a resilient means, so that the respective operative means may recede to a certain degree under the effect of predetermined load.

Manually operated pliers-type tool

A locator for a crimping tool is provided with a grip element accommodating an electrical connector for each pair of dies. The grip elements(s) is (are) carried by a carrier block means which is rectilinearily movable between a stand-by position, in which with the aid of a lever and a slanting track the grip element(s) is (are) located in the area between the open jaws of the crimping tool (10), and a rest position, in which they are located completely outside this area.

Locator for a crimping tool

In a pliers-type tool with a fixed jaw carrier (13A) and a movable jaw carrier (13B) arranged on a pivotable rocker (14) which is connected with an at least to a limited degree resiliently bendable bracket (15). The rocker (14) is with the aid of a pivot pin (14A) pivotally attached to a longitudinal tool body (11), the pivot pin (14A) passing through the rocker (14) in a hole which is larger than the diameter of the pivot pin (14A), and is anchored on one end of a short link (17), the other end of which link is attached to the said bracket (17). Thus work pieces, having a size within certain limits, may be precisely treated.

Pliers-type tool

An apparatus for applying by crimping terminals, which are provided in an elongated terminals strip, to electrical conductors, comprises a tool body and two jaw means which carry co-operating crimping dies, and of which at least one jaw means is movable relative to the body. To the tool body is an elongated carrier arm pivoted which projects beyond the jaw means, and to the free end of the carrier arm is a supply board pivoted which extends rearwardly toward the jaw means and carries a manually operated feeder device with a transport roller for the terminals strip. Between the feeder device and the jaw means is a cutting station for the terminals strip located which comprises at least one pair of co-operating cutting edges and is drivable by the closing movement of one of the jaw means.

Apparatus for applying terminals to electrical conductors

A contact element such as an end-sleeve or a cable shoe, having a connecting portion and a contact portion, is produced from an originally plane blank which has a substantially rectangular first part, which in the finished product defines said connecting portion, and a second part, which in the finished product defines said contact portion. A plurality of such blanks is joined into a metallic punching band with an obverse face and a reverse face and comprising a first zone with all the first parts of the blanks, and a second zone with all the second parts of blanks. On at least the obverse face of the first zone is an insulating cover or coating applied before the individual blanks are removed from the punching band, so that the contact elements having a metallic connection portion with an insulating layer are obtained.
