In order a safety device for a motor vehicle seat having a seat cushion part and a backrest, the backrest having a frame, a backrest cover, which faces rearward as seen in the direction of travel, and padding which faces forward, as seen in the direction of travel, and an airbag module is integrated into the backrest, said airbag module being arranged in that region of the backrest which faces the side wall structure of the motor vehicle in such a manner that an airbag is deployed when there is an impact between a driver and the side wall of the motor vehicle, said safety device ensuring a reliable and reproducible emergence of the airbag, it is proposed to arrange the airbag module to the rear of the backrest frame, when looking from the side wall of the motor vehicle.

Safety device for a motor vehicle seat

An air bag module in a motor vehicle includes an elongate container, which can be fixed along a frame part of the vehicle and in which an air bag is folded which, after a crash signal, is filled with gas, emerges from the container and covers vehicle parts in the passenger space two-dimensionally. Additionally, an element, absorbing energy due to its deformation upon impact with a passenger, is mounted in or at the container along the frame part of the vehicle.

Air bag module in a motor vehicle

A side-impact airbag device for a passenger cell of a motor vehicle includes a window bag which, in the active, inflated state, has a window portion which at least partially covers a side window and extends between roof support pillars. At least one of the window portions of the window bag is assigned an additional window bag pillar portion which, in the active, inflated state, at least partially covers the associated pillar relative to the passenger cell and provides a cushion against the impact, in particular, of the head and shoulder area of a passenger. In the folded-up, uninflated fitted state, the window portion of the window bag lying stowed under a lateral end portion, is bounded at the front and rear by a windscreen and a rear window respectively, of the interior lining headliner which is mounted on the roof frame and the lateral end portion of which is moved when the window bag is triggered to free the deployment path. In the folded-up fitted state, the front and/or rear window bag pillar portion lie/lies stowed under the lateral end portion of the interior lining headliner and can emerge therefrom in the direction of the A or C pillar.

Side-impact airbag assembly

The invention relates to an air bag module in a motor vehicle with a folded air bag, in particular a window bag, located in a lengthwise container on a vehicle frame part, particularly a roof frame part, and which is inflated and unfolded in the event of a collision, and with an energy-absorbing element mounted in or on container. According to the invention, energy-absorbing element is designed in several parts. A first part of energy-absorbing element is permanently mounted in or on container or vehicle frame part and serves to guide air bag as it inflates and unfolds. A second part of energy-absorbing element is pivotably mounted in or on container.

Window air bag module for a passenger vehicle

A head-protecting curtain in a motor vehicle is stored folded at the roof rail. In the event of a collision, the curtain is moved in the interior into a protecting position in front of a vehicle door, whereupon it then covers at least an upper area of the door opening and is stretched horizontally. The head-protecting curtain has at least two curtain sections that remain connected during the impact, said sections being separable from one another after the impact, starting at the bottom edge of the head-protecting curtain, along a parting line for at least part of the height.

An air bag curtain, particularly for a vehicle window, comprises several tube-shaped chambers which are arranged side-by-side. The chambers are spaced from one another and can be filled with gas and have a largely circular cross-section after being filled with gas. In the effective gas-filled position, the air bag curtain extends between two lateral fastening points. The chambers, which are crossed by a tension line connecting the two fastening points with one another, are constructed with a bulge in the crossing area which results in the oval cross-section being oriented approximately in the direction of the tension line.

Vehicle window air bag curtain

A deformation sensor for a safety device for the protection of vehicle occupants against a side-on collision is disclosed. The deformation sensor is composed of two pressure-sensitive signal elements arranged in parallel and one behind the other, so that the deformation speed can be concluded from the time sequence of the sensor signals. The signal elements ace integrated into a protective strip of the vehicle mounted on the outside of the shell. This ensures a rapid response in the event of a collision, and moreover the assembly of the deformation sensor becomes much easier. The signal elements take the form of FSR foil pressure sensors (Force Sensing Resistor).
