A pyrotechnic mixture in the form of granulates, encompassing a nitrogen-generating substance, an inorganic oxidizing medium and a binder constituted of silicone rubber. Also disclosed is a process for the production of this pyrotechnic mixture, as well as a gas generator for an airbag which contains the pyrotechnic mixture as a propellent charge. The pyrotechnic mixture is in the form of granulates for a propellent charge which generates a non-toxic gas, encompassing the nitrogen-generating substance, especially an alkali metal azide or earth alkali metal azide, an inorganic oxidizing medium consisting of alkali metal nitrate and/or alkaline earth metal nitrate and silicone rubber.

Pyrotechnic mixture and gas generator for an airbag

A gas generator for an airbag which contains the pyrotechnic mixture as a propellent charge. The propellent charge is in the form of granulates which generate a non-toxic gas. A space encompasses the container for the propellant charge and is separated from the airbag by a gas-permeable separator so as to generate a higher pressure in the space than in the airbag during inflation of the airbag.

A hydrodynamic propulsion device possessing an expansion chamber located downstream of a cross-sectional widening for the inflow of a medium which is to be expelled through a discharge nozzle. The propulsion device is constructed as a static propulsion mechanism without movable components, in that the gaseous operating medium is produced in the propulsion device through the reaction of a hydrofuel, such as NaK with water.

Hydrodynamic propulsion device

A propulsion mechanism for a subcaliber projectile, wherein the propulsion mechanism possesses a close-fitted zone in common with the projectile for subjecting a gas pressure-receiving surface to a load caused by the propellent gases; for the utilization in a recessed surface, of an incident flow of air subsequent to exiting from a weapon barrel; and a tensioning device for the assumption of tensile stresses, with the device being connected with a central carrier component adjoining the projectile body.

Propulsion mechanism for a subcaliber projectile

A propulsion mechanism or sabot for a subcaliber projectile, in which the mechanism is constructed segmented, and which includes a carrier component defining a form-fitted zone between itself and the projectile, a front part which is connected with the carrier component which is constructed with an air pocket, a rearward positioning or adjusting part defining the projectile caliber which is connected to the carrier component, and an outer part which is arranged intermediate the front part and the rearward positioning part.

A casing for an explosive charge, especially for an article of submunition, including a covered pouring opening arranged on a damming bottom for the casing, through which an explosive charge is poured into the casing. A plate or disc member for the pouring opening is formed on a closure cover, which disc member lies tightly within the pouring opening and extends deeply into the latter; and wherein an annular rim extending over the pouring opening is formed on the closure cover, including axially open annular groove encompassing the disc member, into which there engages an annular projection of the damming bottom.

Casing for an explosive charge

An arrangement for aerodynamically braking the rotational movement of a body, especially a secondary or subordinate ammunition member which is ejected from its carrier, through the utilization of flexible braking surface elements which are articulated to the wall of the body so as to be swingable outwardly. A flexible braking surface of that type can be simply configured as a sheet metal plate or fabric which is pliantly bendable in every direction, which allows it to be slung about the wall of the member so as to closely lie thereagainst, and thereby protrudes only slightly; but which, on the other hand, because of its weight (and at times through a weight exerting a centrifugal force, which is additionally attached at its end) will dependently and rapidly unfold when there is released its restraint from its initially rolled-up condition; for example, when the member is to be expelled from its built-in position within a carrier.

Arrangement for aerodynamically braking the rotational movement of a body

An arrangement for reducing the base drag in projectiles constructed pursuant to the high-low pressure system including a gas-generating charge, a chamber with a pressure-reducing component, and a discharge aperture provided in the base wall. In the arrangement for the reduction of the base drag in projectiles, the charge is annularly shaped, the pressure-reducing component is formed as a tube axially extending through the charge and possesses a multiplicity of nozzles. Through the provision of the large number or multiplicity of nozzles, the tube, which separates the high-pressure space from the low-pressure space, a relatively gentle gas jet exits from the bottom of the projectile. For this purpose, of significance is the swirling of the individual gas jets in the low-pressure space in accordance with the principle of the countercurrent process. The vacuum in the region of the projectile base is reduced to a minimum due to the gentle jet.
