A condensation dryer having a temperature sensor to measure a temperature of a coolant; a first comparator to determine a temperature difference between a first temperature of the coolant and a second temperature of the coolant that is measured after a period of time and to compare the temperature difference with a limiting temperature difference stored in a controller; a counter to ascertain a number of occurrences in which the temperature difference is greater than or equal to the limiting temperature difference; and a second comparator to compare the number of occurrences with a limiting number stored in the controller and to evaluate a number difference between the number of occurrences and the limiting number with respect to the presence of an impermissible operating state. A first impermissible operating state is indicated if the number difference is greater than or equal to a value stored in the controller.

Condensation dryer with a heat pump and recognition of an impermissible operating state and method for the operation thereof

A condensation dryer is provided which has a heat pump in which a coolant circulates; a compressor; a temperature sensor to measure a temperature of the coolant; and a controller. The controller has a first comparator to compare the temperature of the coolant with an upper limiting temperature of the coolant; a switch to switch the compressor off if the temperature of the coolant is greater than or equal to the upper limiting temperature and to switch the compressor on after each compressor disconnection. A counter ascertains the number of occurrences at which the compressor is switched off. The counter is incremented by 1 each time the compressor is switched off. A second comparator compares the number of occurrences with a prespecified limiting number and evaluates the difference between the number of occurrences and the prespecified limiting number with respect to the presence of an impermissible operating state.

A method for drying sensitive articles, essentially textiles made of wool, which are to be dried in the washing drum of a clothes dryer using a computer program. According to known methods for protecting sensitive articles to be dried during a drying program, the articles to be dried are introduced into a protective device which, filled with the articles to be dried, is then inserted into the washing drum before the start of the drying program. In order to prevent damage to the sensitive articles to be dried whenever the protective device is not used, a warning signal is generated prior to the start of the drying program when the protective device containing the sensitive articles to be dried is not properly fixed to the clothes dryer.

Method for drying sensitive articles

A method for monitoring the proper functioning of a temperature-dependent resistor, particularly a NTC resistor, for measuring the temperature of a medium heated by a heat source. Said medium is preferably the air flow in a clothes dryer for drying clothes. In order to increase the safety of a device, in particular a clothes dryer, where the temperature-dependent resistor is used in combination with a heat source, it is checked, once the heat source is switched on, whether the temperature measured by the resistor after a first predetermined period of time following the switching on of the heat source falls below a predetermined temperature threshold value. If this is the case, monitoring of a resistor-temperature curve characteristic of the temperature-dependent resistor is carried out.

Method for monitoring a temperature-dependent resistor, particularly in a clothes dryer

A method for determining a load in a tumble dryer. Initially, laundry is moved in a laundry drum and the electrical conductivity of the laundry is determined by electrodes residing in the laundry drum. The method is distinguished by the fact that a range of fluctuation of the electrical conductivity is determined and serves as a measure of the load. As a result, the determination of the load can be carried out without an additional outlay for components and circuitry in the case in which a conductivity measurement is already implemented in the tumble dryer. The method is particularly suitable to be carried out by a microcontroller.

Method for determining the load in a tumble dryer

Household washer-dryers include a laundry drum having an incoming air inlet and a waste air outlet, a blower in an air conduit, a heating device upstream of the air inlet, temperature and moisture sensors, a memory for measured values and process sequence variants and an electronic program control unit. A method for controlling drying processes in such devices includes measuring a waste air temperature at the air outlet at a starting point of a drying process. At least part of the heating device is periodically turned on and off during at least one time segment at a beginning of the drying process. Air temperature measurements are taken at an inlet of the heating device, upstream of the air inlet and immediately downstream of the air outlet, after an expiration of a starting phase having a duration being dimensioned in terms of a length of one to three heating periods, and differences from the measured values in the waste air, at the inlet to the heating device, and in the incoming air are formed and stored in memory. Process variables are measured at least periodically at frequencies of several times per second, and a plurality of memorized process sequences are called up to the memory each time for output to and processing in the program control unit, upon attainment of predetermined threshold values as a function of entered program parameters pertaining to type, amount and/or initial residual moisture of laundry.
