A system for presenting video images from a vehicle environment includes taking video images of the vehicle environment, detecting sensor data of the vehicle environment or the vehicle, processing the sensor data, recognizing objects in the video images, and visualizing the processed sensor data in the displayed video images by changing the representation of recognized objects in the displayed video images.

Video image presentation system

A video compression system processes images captured from a video camera mounted to a vehicle. Vehicle-mounted sensors generate vehicle motion information corresponding to a current state of motion of the vehicle. An optical flow estimation circuit estimates apparent motion of objects within a visual field. A video encoder circuit in communication with the optical flow estimation circuit compresses the video data from the video camera based on the estimated apparent motion.

Video compression system

Methods, devices and systems for recognizing an object in an image are provided, in which the object is recognized by evaluation of both image data and digital map information that corresponds to an area represented by the image. Evaluation of the image data and the digital map information may involve various methods of evaluation including cross-checking, in which the digital map information is utilized to verify correct object recognition in the image data; prediction, in which digital map information is utilized to predict a feature of an object to facilitate object recognition in the image data; or modeling in which a generic model of an object is compared with the image data.

Image recognition system

A system for processing an image of a surrounding of a vehicle is provided. The system includes an image generator that is configured for generating an image, the image having at least a first and a second portion. The first and second portions of the image differ from each other and the first portion of the image is generated for further processing earlier than the second portion of the image. Additionally, the system includes an image processor for processing the first and second portions of the image, where the image processor is configured for processing the first portion of said image while awaiting for the second portion of the image to become available to the image processor.
