A housing part for an explosion-protected housing () with flameproof encapsulation. The housing part comprises a porous body () in a passage () of the housing part. The passage () is closed in a flameproof manner by means of the porous body (). The porous body () comprises an inner side () assigned to the interior of the housing () and an outer side () assigned to the surrounding area () comprising the explosive atmosphere. A gas volume flow can pass through the porous body (), entering the porous body () on the inner side () and escape on the outer side () or vice versa. To prevent the penetration of water or of other aqueous liquids into the interior of the housing (), the porous body () comprises a hydrophobic surface (B) in at least one area ().

A pressure release device for a protective housing for flameproof enclosure of electrical operating means. The device includes an accommodating body () having a passage (), and a porous body () arranged in the passage (). The porous body () is elastically deformed by means of an interference fit in the passage (), and thus, reliably supported therein free of flame or spark exiting gaps.

The pressure release device () including a porous body () having a gas-permeable porous central area () and a surrounding edge zone (). A peripheral surface () of the porous body () is arranged in the edge zone (). The porosity and/or the pore size of the porous body is specified or changed at the peripheral surface (), or at the edge zone (), such that the penetration of liquid casting material (G) into the central area () of the porous body () is prevented across the peripheral surface () or the edge zone (). The edge zone () thus forms a barrier (B) for the casting material (G) which enables the porous body () to be inserted in a casting mold () and insert molded with casting material (G) in production of an accommodating part () of the housing.
