The present disclosure relates to a fiber optic assembly having a splice tray that increases spatial efficiency within the fiber optic assembly and within the splice tray. The splice tray may be inserted and/or removed from a terminal without utilization of tools. Additionally, the splice tray may be configured to enable one handed insertion or removal, which may be advantageous, such as in small terminals or confined spaces. The splice tray also provides an efficient routing pattern of optical fibers to enable larger diameter optical fibers to be routed within the splice tray and the terminal.

Fiber network for interrogating fiber-optic sensors in a first Passive Optical Network (PON) and in a second PON, the fiber network comprising a test signal transceiver for emitting query signals and for receiving response signals, a first PON and a second PON. Each PON comprises a light source for generating telecommunication signals and a fiber-optic sensor. Each PON can transmit the telecommunication signals to a plurality of subscribers, and is optically connected to the test signal transceiver such that the query signals can be fed into the respective PON and propagate in the PON to the fiber-optic sensor, and such that the test signal transceiver can receive response signals from the fiber-optic sensor through the PON. The fiber network further comprises a query signal splitter, optically connected to the test signal transceiver and to the PONs such that it can feed a query signal into the PONs simultaneously, and such that it can feed response signals from the PONs into the test signal transceiver.

The invention comprises a modular support system () for optical fiber trays () comprising: at least one central module () for supporting the optical fiber trays, the central module being adapted to be positioned side-by-side with a plurality of central modules supporting the optical fiber trays, wherein the central module further comprises a fixing structure () for attaching at least one additional fiber management module () to the central module. The invention further comprises a kit of parts for a modular support system for optical fiber trays as well as an optical fiber organizer.
