A metal drilling tool comprising includes a middle axis, a front side and an opposite end, with at least two cutting edges arranged in a region of the front side, a first free surface being associated with each cutting edge. The at least two cutting edges lie on an imaginary first conical surface arranged concentrically in relation to the middle axis, with a first conical angle that opens up towards the opposite end and reaches a maximum of 180&#xb0;. A centering section includes at least three edges, at least three side surfaces and an imaginary base surface. At least two of the edges lie on an imaginary second conical surface which is arranged concentrically in relation to the middle axis and has a second conical angle that opens up towards the opposite end. The second conical angle is smaller than the first conical angle, such that the imaginary second conical surface, seen from the opposite end, projects opposite the front surface.

Metal drilling tool

A step drill includes a distal end, an opposite proximal end, a drill tip and at least one drill step. The drill tip has a tip at the distal end of the step drill and comprises a first number of geometrically defined cutters, each of which is paired with a first flute and lies on an imaginary first circular line about a longitudinal axis of the step drill. The imaginary first circular line has a first radius. The at least one drill step is arranged at a distance from the distal end and has an end face with a second number of geometrically defined cutters each of which is paired with a second flute and lies on an imaginary second circular line that runs about the longitudinal axis of the step drill and has a second radius. The first radius is smaller than the second radius. The first flutes of the drill tip and the second flutes of the drill step merge in a region, which is arranged at a greater distance from the distal end than the end face of the drill step, and form a single flute.

A milling tool is suggested having a base body (), a central axis (M), and a front side (), whereby at least two geometrically defined first front edges () that are arranged, respectively, at front side () of base body () exhibit a first edge section () facing central axis (M). Milling tool () distinguishes itself by the first edge sections () of the at least two front edges () being formed in an ascending fashion towards center axis (M), so that they form a centering tip (), and that centering tip () is arranged in a recessed manner in an axial direction when compared with an axial outermost point () of at least two of the first front edges () (FIG.).

A drill has a central axis, a front side, a circumferential surface, at least two main edges on the front side, which reach up to the circumferential surface and merge there with secondary edges, at least two central edges extending from the end of the main edge facing away from the circumferential surface, cutting surfaces associated with the main edges and central edges, chip flutes associated with the main edges and central edges and introduced into the circumferential surface, at least one cross edge adjoined by the ends of the central edges facing away from the main edges which passes through the central axis, a point thinning and chip run-up shoulders associated with at least the cutting surfaces of the central edges. An angle &#x3b3; of the chip run-up shoulder decreases in the region of the point thinning towards the central axis as the distance from the front side increases.

Drill bit

A drill bit has a tool shank, a center axis, a first cutting region with at least one geometrically defined first cutting edge, the same having a cutting face arranged at a radial distance from the center axis of the drill bit. The first cutting edge forms a countersink angle with the center axis. The drill bit having a chip shaping stage functionally assigned to the first cutting edge formed by the cutting face of the first cutting edge and by a shoulder surface adjoining the cutting face and forming a shoulder angle with the same, wherein the shoulder angle is greater than 90&#xb0;, and preferably greater than 100&#xb0;. The cutting face runs at a radial rake angle with respect to an imaginary radial line which cuts the first cutting edge, the same functionally assigned to the cutting face. The radial rake angle is positive.

Drill

A milling and boring tool with a tool shaft which comprises a center axis, at least one geometrically defined rough cutter and at least one geometrically defined finishing cutter, and the at least one rough cutter and the at least one finishing cutter respectively comprise a chip groove. The milling and boring tool is characterized in that the chip groove of the at least one finish machining cutter has an opposite twist than the chip groove of the at least one rough cutter.

A tool for machining workpieces, having a shank and a cutting insert having a base body held in the shank. The shank has a slot accommodating the cutting insert. The body has a central section with a central axis. At least one convexly bowed centering surface running in the direction of the central section. The drill bit is characterized in that the guide land () is disposed on the first web () and the support land () is disposed, together with the free cutting-edge land () having the free cutting edge (), on the second web ().

The invention proposes a drill bit () leaving at least one main cutting edge (') and at least one center cutting edge (&#x2032;), wherein the drill bit () comprises a longitudinal axis (), and wherein the at least one main cutting edge (&#x2032;) and the at least one center cutting edge (&#x2032;) are each assigned a rake face (&#x2032;). The drill bit () is characterized in that the rake face (&#x2032;) assigned to the at least one center cutting edge (&#x2032;) has at least two part faces (&#x2032;) which&#x2014;as seen as perpendicular to the longitudinal axis () of the drill bit ()&#x2014;form an obtuse angle with one another, so that the at least one center cutting edge (&#x2032;) comprises at least two part cutting edges (&#x2032;).

A drill having end-face major surfaces, contiguous faces descending from the major cutting edges and flanks contiguous to the major cutting edges. Center cutting edges are formed by end-face taperings. A chisel cutting edge is between the center cutting edges. Shapes of the cutting edges are disclosed. First ones of the flanks are angled to create an outward apex angle so that the major cutting edges and the center cutting edges run at a constant taper angle.

This application relates to a twist drill for use in a machine tool with a major cutting edge divided into two partial cutting edges by a chisel edge wherein longitudinal cutting edges extend along the length of the drill such that the first longitudinal cutting edge makes a rough cut and the second longitudinal cutting edge makes a finishing cut during operation.

Drilling tool

Disclosed is a drilling tool comprising a first drill bit () that is provided with at least two forward cutting edges () and a second drill bit () which encompasses at least two rear cutting edges (). A cutting groove () runs continuously from one respective forward cutting edge () to a rear cutting edge (). Cutting tool

A drill bit having a shank portion and a cutting portion, which cutting portion generally has at least one cutting edge and a chip flute that has a helical portion. The drill bit has at least one straight coolant channel that has a coolant exit orifice disposed at least partially in the flute and oriented toward the cutting edges to supply coolant thereto to cool the cutting edges and chips produced during a cutting operation.

This invention relates to a boring tool having a cutting insert. The insert has a chip breaker with a base that extends from the secondary cutting edge to the primary cutting edge. The primary cutting edge, which is also referred to below as the major cutting edge, thereby runs diagonally with respect to the insert surface or top face of the indexable insert toward the chip breaker base of the chip breaker. The secondary cutting edge, which is also referred to as the minor cutting edge below and is advantageously straight, descends toward the major cutting edge, as a result of which a wiper geometry is realized on the minor cutting edge. Therefore the major cutting edge and the minor cutting edge preferably form a closed triangle with the chip breaker base.
