A process is described for production of a biaxially oriented film which comprises at one crystallizable thermoplastic as main constituent and comprises at least 500 ppm, based on the weight of thermoplastic, of a pigment. The production process uses at least 20% by weight, based on the weight of the film, of recycled material of the same type whose molecular weight has been increased by condensation processes.

The invention relates to a white opaque film formed from a crystallizable thermoplastic, preferably thermo-plastic polyester in the form of polyethylene terephthalate, barium sulfate and titanium dioxide as pigments, at least one optical brightener, and optionally at least one dye soluble in the thermoplastic. Invention relates to a process for producing a single-layer or multilayer film by extrusion or coextrusion, biaxial orientation, and heat setting based on crystallizable thermoplastics whose principal constituent is a crystallizable thermoplastic having a standard viscosity SV (DCA) of from 600 to 1000. The thermoplastic is mixed prior to extrusion or coextrusion with 50% by weight (based on the total weight of all thermoplastics) of a secondary thermoplastic having a standard viscosity SV (DCA) of more than 900 to 1500, the standard viscosity SV (DCA) of the two thermoplastics differing by at least 100 units. The secondary thermoplastic is a byproduct or waste product from the production of PET plastic bottles or originates from recycled PET bottles.

Biaxially oriented, co-extruded polyester films comprising a base layer consisting of at least 90 wt. % thermoplastic polyester, preferably polyethylene terephthalate (PET), at least one sealable outer layer and a second non-sealable outer layer and, optionally, other intermediate layers, in addition to at least one flame-retardant agent, preferably organic phosphorous compounds. The present invention relates to a transparent, low-flammability, UV-resistant, oriented film made from a crystallizable thermoplastic and having a thickness of from 5 to 300 &#x3bc;m. The film comprises at least one UV stabilizer and at least one flame retardant, and at least the flame retardant, and preferably also the UV stabilizer, is fed directly as a masterbatch to the crystallizable thermoplastic during production of the film. The film may have one or more layers, and the UV stabilizer may have been selected from the group consisting of the 2-hydroxybenzophenones, the 2-hydroxybenzotriazoles, the organonickel compounds, the salicylic esters, the cinnamic ester derivatives, the resorcinol monobenzoates, the oxanilides, the hydroxybenzoic esters, the sterically hindered amines and triazines, and the flame retardant may be an organic phosphorus compound, in particular an organic phosphorus compound soluble in polyethylene terephthalate.

The present invention relates to an opaque, white UV-stabilized low-flammability film with a thickness of from 10 to 500 &#x3bc;m whose principal constituent is a crystallizable thermoplastic. The invention relates to a co-extruded, biaxially oriented polyester film consisting of a base layer and at least one outer layer. The film contains a UV-stabilizer and has a matt outer layer which contains a mixture and/or a blend of two components (I) and (II), whereby component (I) is substantially a polyethylene terephthalate homopolymer or a polyethylene terephthalate copolymer, or a mixture of polyethylene terephthalate homopolymers or polyethyleneterephthalate copolymers, and component (II) is a polymer which contains at least one sulphonate group.

The invention relates to biaxially orientated, co-extruded polyester films, which have at least one base layer that contains a thermoplastic polyester, preferably polyethylene terephthalate and approx. 2 to 60 wt.-% of a cycloolefin copolymer that is preferably composed of norbornene and ethylene units and which have at least one cover layer that is devoid of a COC and which optionally have additional cover or intermediate layers and can contain conventional additives such as stabilisers and anti-blocking agents. Said films are characterized in particular by a degree of whiteness&#x3e;70%, an opacity&#x3e;55% and a gloss, (at least on one side)&#x3e;100 and are therefore suitable for numerous industrial applications. During the production of the films in accordance with the co-extrusion process, up to 70 wt.-% of reclaimed product can be used, without having a noticeable negative effect on the physical properties of the film.

The invention relates to a transparent, UV-stabilized, single or multi-layered thermoformable film which contains, as a principal constituent, a crystallizable thermoplastic, preferably polyethylene terephthalate, and at least one UV-stabilizer. The inventive films are characterized by having a good stretchability, thermoformability and good optical and mechanical properties. Said films are suitable for outdoor uses just like shaped bodies made of the same.

The invention relates to biaxially oriented, co-extruded polyester films. Said films comprise a base layer which consists of at least 70% by weight of a thermoplastic polyester, preferably polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with a diethylene glycol and/or polyethylene glycol content greater than 1.3% by weight and have at least one matt outer layer and optionally additional intermediate layers. The films also contain at least one UV-absorber, preferably hydroxy benzotriazoles and triazines. The films are characterized by high UV-stability, no embrittlement after exposure to temperature, a matt surface devoid of unwanted clouding and excellent thermoforming properties and are, together with the molded bodies produced therefrom, suitable for numerous interior and exterior applications. The (matt) outer layers can be identical or different and contain a mixture or a blend of a component I which consists of PET homopolymers and/or copolymers and a component II which is a copolymer resulting from the condensation product of isophthalic acid, an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and a sulfomonomer with a copolymerizable aliphatic or cycloaliphatic glycol.
