An internal combustion engine includes an internal combustion engine interior and a lubricant disposed in the internal combustion engine interior. The lubricant lubricates a component disposed in the internal combustion engine interior and the lubricant is a water-containing lubricant. In an embodiment, the internal combustion engine interior is fluidically connected to an environment surrounding the internal combustion engine by a ventilation device where the ventilation device has a semipermeable membrane which is impermeable to water and water vapor.

An apparatus configured to change a compression ratio of a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine includes an externally toothed eccentric, an adjusting unit, and a coupling unit. A first takeoff shaft is coupled mechanically to the external toothing system of the eccentric. A second takeoff shaft is coupled mechanically to the adjusting unit. The first and second takeoff shafts of the coupling unit, the eccentric and/or the adjusting unit are configured for the partial or complete arrangement in the interior of a crankcase of the crankshaft, within an installation space of a web of the crankshaft and/or within an installation space of a counterweight.

An external rotor pump has an outer rotor with a sliding surface which is arranged on the outer side thereof, and an opposing body in which the outer rotor is mounted rotatably by way of the sliding surface thereof on an inner guide surface of the opposing body and is in mechanical contact with the inner guide surface. An inner rotor which is mounted such that it can be rotated eccentrically with respect to the outer rotor is provided. The sliding surface or the inner guide surface has a surface structure which has a load-bearing region and a non-load-bearing region which is depressed in contrast with the former.

A coolant jacket is provided for a liquid-cooled cylinder head for an internal combustion engine having a crankcase. The cylinder head has a gas exchange intake side having two gas exchange intake valves and a gas exchange exhaust side having two gas exchange exhaust valves. A fuel injection valve is provided on the intake side and an ignition device is provided on the exhaust side between the gas exchange valves. The coolant jacket extends as a first partial coolant jacket on the exhaust side, coming from the crankcase, between the gas exchange exhaust valves and then radially outside around the ignition device and the fuel injection valve and further in the direction of the intake side and the crankcase. Optimal cooling of the ignition device and the fuel injection valve is achieved which enables high specific powers and pressures leading to fuel consumption and cost advantages.

A device for changing a compression ratio of an internal combustion engine is provided. The engine has a crank drive with a crankshaft with at least one crank pin, mounted in a rotationally movable fashion, connected to a connecting rod and a piston arranged in a cylinder of the internal combustion engine. In order to convert rotational movement of the crankshaft into a bidirectional movement of the piston with a defined stroke height, a rotationally movable, externally toothed eccentric for changing the piston stroke height is arranged between the crank pin and an eyelet on the connecting rod. In order to rotate the eccentric, an externally toothed first gearwheel is axially connected in a rotationally fixed fashion to a second gearwheel via a shaft arranged parallel to the crankshaft which is arranged in a meshing fashion on a third gearwheel which can be rotated by an actuating element.

Device for changing a compression ratio of a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine

An internal combustion engine includes a first injector and a second injector for injecting fuel directly into a combustion chamber in a cylinder in a crank case of the internal combustion engine. The combustion chamber is delimited at one side by a piston which is arranged in the cylinder so as to carry out a stroke and at the other side by a cylinder head. At least one gas exchange inlet valve and a gas exchange outlet valve are provided in the cylinder head for a charge exchange. The first injector is largely oriented in the direction of a cylinder axis, and the second injector is oriented at an angle to the cylinder axis. Maximally 80% of a full-load fuel quantity required by the internal combustion engine for a full load can be introduced into the cylinder using the first injector and maximally 50% using the second injector. The injectors can be configured for smaller fuel flow rates using the internal combustion engine design and operating method, whereby the precision of the injection is improved.

The invention relates to a cylinder sleeve () for lining the cylindrical wall of a cylinder (A) of an internal combustion engine. The inventive sleeve () comprises an inner wall () which is intended to guide a piston in translation and an outer wall () which is intended to rest on the cylindrical wall of the cylinder. The outer wall () of the sleeve of the cylinder () comprises an upper part () which is flared toward a top edge () of the sleeve (), which is defined between the inner () and outer () walls of the cylinder sleeve. The invention also relates to a cylinder block of an internal combustion engine, comprising at least two cylinders (A, B) which are each equipped with one such cylinder sleeve.

A variable stroke valve drive for an internal combustion engine, including an intermediate lever which is slidingly arranged on a crank path of a crank arm the intermediate lever has a working cam with null lifting cam and lifting cam portions. The working cam contacts a gas exchange valve via an intermediate element. A first adjustment element rotates the intermediate lever against a spring element around a point located near the crank, the intermediate lever being displaceable along the crank path by a second adjustment element. The first adjustment element is provided with a cam plate whose radius continuously increases or reduces on a circumference with respect to an axis of rotation. The inventive variable stroke valve drive substantially reduces wear in a valve drive.
