A piston for an internal combustion engine may include a ring belt, a groove, and an additional groove. The ring belt may extend along an axial direction. The groove may be arranged on the outer circumference of the ring belt and may be configured to receive an oil scraper ring. The additional groove may be arranged on the outer circumference spaced apart from the groove with respect to the axial direction. The additional groove may include a first groove side axially facing away from the groove and a second groove side axially facing the groove. The first groove side may include an axial step.

A cylinder bore for a cylinder housing of an internal combustion engine may have a cylinder running surface, an upper reversal point and a lower reversal point at which a piston, which may be moved up and down in the cylinder bore and may have piston rings and a piston skirt, may reach a speed which approaches zero during engine operation. The cylinder bore may also have a region between the upper reversal point and the lower reversal point at which the piston may reach a maximum speed during engine operation. The cylinder bore may further have at least two circumferential depressions formed within the region, the at least two circumferential depressions each having a diameter that may be greater than a diameter of the cylinder bore above the region and below the region.

A piston of an internal combustion engine may include a piston shaft and a piston head. The piston head may be provided with a closed cooling channel with a cooling medium arranged therein. The piston shaft may have a spherically round cross-sectional shape, wherein a deviation from the roundness with respect to a piston diameter may be less than 0.5 per thousand.

A piston for an internal combustion engine has a piston head and a piston skirt. The piston head has a circumferential ring part and a circumferential cooling channel in the region of the ring part. The piston skirt has piston bosses with boss bores and which are arranged on the lower face of the piston head via boss connections. The piston bosses are connected to one another via running surfaces. At least one bore is provided which is closed towards the outside and which is arranged between a running surface and a boss bore. A piston for an internal combustion engine may include a piston head and a piston skirt. The piston skirt may include piston bosses disposed opposite one another having a boss bore and at least two shank walls disposed opposite one another having a running surface. A cover plate including a recess for receiving a connecting rod may be secured in a lower region of the piston skirt. The cover plate may have at least two longitudinal sides disposed opposite one another and at least two free ends disposed opposite one another. At least two grooves may be arranged in the lower region of the piston skirt on the at least two shank walls. The at least two free ends of the cover plate may be accommodated resiliently prestressed in the at least two grooves.

A cylinder liner for an internal combustion engine may include an aluminum alloy material including a magnesium content of at least 0.3% by weight, a liner body having a circumferential face, and an adapter layer of silicon oxide disposed on the circumferential face. A method for coating a surface of a closed cooling channel, having a plurality of oil supply bores and a plurality of oil discharge bores, of a piston for an internal combustion engine, having a coating medium containing hexagonal boron nitride may include introducing a defined quantity of a coating medium comprising a suspension of hexagonal boron nitride with a solution on a basis of at least one thermally curable inorganic binder and at least one solvent into the cooling channel, spreading the coating medium over the surface of the cooling channel by moving the piston about at least two spatial axes, using a laminar air flow to dry the coating medium spread over the surface of the cooling channel, and thermally curing the coating medium to complete a coating adhering to the surface of the cooling channel.

Method for coating cooling channel with coating containing hexagonal boron nitride

A piston for an internal combustion engine includes a piston head and a piston skirt, wherein the piston head has a piston base, a circumferential ring part and, in the region of the ring part, a circumferential closed cooling channel or sealed cavity. An inner side of the piston has two lower surfaces which transform continuously in the region of the piston central axis (M) to form an arched surface. The piston skirt has piston hubs provided with hub bores which are interconnected by means of running surfaces which have inner surfaces facing the inside of the piston. Starting from the free ends of the piston skirt, inside the piston on the pressure side (DS) and/or counter pressure side (GDS), an inner surface of a running surface continuously transforms into a guiding surface for a coolant which transforms continuously on the side thereof into a lower surface.

A method for producing a cast component may include providing an insert part including an insert body having a circumferential face; coating the circumferential face with an adapter layer made of silicon oxide; arranging the insert part in a casting mold; and positively locking a casting encapsulation of the insert part and the adapter layer with an aluminum alloy to produce the cast component, wherein the aluminum alloy has a magnesium proportion of at least 0.3% by weight.

A piston for an internal combustion engine may include a piston head and a piston skirt. The piston head may include a circumferential ring part. In a region of the ring part, the piston head may include a circumferential cooling channel and a circumferential ring support. The invention relates to a method for producing a piston () for an internal combustion engine, characterized by the following method steps: producing an upper piston part () and a lower piston part () having one or more recesses (') for forming a closed cavity (); introducing a heat transfer medium (), in particular one or more alkali metals, that is solid or paste-like at ambient temperature and liquid at the intended operating temperature of the piston, into the recesses (&#x2032;) of the lower piston part () and/or of the upper piston part (), wherein the heat transfer medium () is provided in order, during the operative state of the piston (), to effect heat transport within the piston () by convection; closing the recesses to form the closed cavity () which encloses the heat transfer medium (); and connecting the upper piston part () to the lower piston part (). This enables the piston () to be produced in a simplified manner.

Method for producing a piston

The invention relates to a piston for an internal combustion engine, comprising a piston head and a piston skirt, the piston head having a peripheral annular part and in the region of the annular part, a peripheral cooling channel. The piston skirt comprises piston bores provided with hub bores, which are arranged over the hub connections on the underside of the piston head. The piston hubs are interconnected over the running surfaces. According to the invention, the wall of the cooling channel which extends in the region of the annular part comprises an inclined portion and together with the central axis of the piston (M), forms an acute angle (a). At least one bore which is closed towards the outside is arranged between a running surface and a hub bore such that the at least one bore leads into the cooling channel, and that the cooling channel and the at least one bore contain a coolant in the form of a metal or a metal alloy which have a low-melting point.

A method for producing a cylinder liner surface for a cylinder crankcase of an internal combustion engine has the following method steps: (a) preliminary honing of the inner surface of a cylinder liner consisting of a cast iron material to form depressions in the surface; (b) application of a coating material containing zinc to the honed surface; (c) final honing of the coated surface in such a way that the coating material containing zinc remains only in the depressions formed by the preliminary honing.

A piston for an internal combustion engine includes a piston head that has a piston crown, a top land, a ring part, and a combustion bowl with a bowl base, a bowl wall, and an insert which is made of an annular component and which is held in the piston head by means of an undercut section. According to the invention, the component has an inner wall on the bowl side, the inner wall continuously tapering off all the way to the bowl wall or the bowl base in a flush manner, thereby forming a circumferential edge that tapers into a point.

The invention relates to a hybrid pin () for connecting a piston for an internal combustion engine to a piston rod, the hybrid pin () consisting of a sleeve () made of steel and consisting of a core () which is pressed into the sleeve () and which is made of a lightweight metal alloy that can be cold-formed. The inner surface of the sleeve () has a profile, whereby an elastic elongation of the core () in the axial direction after the core () is pressed into the sleeve () is prevented to such an extent that the sleeve () is longer than the core () at both ends of the hybrid pin ().
