A method for producing cast items in a casting method, wherein a charge of a conductive material is introduced into the sphere of influence of at least one alternating electromagnetic field, so that the charge is kept in a levitating state. The melt is poured into moulds in order to produce turbine blades, prostheses or turbocharger impellers.

Casting method

A device for directional solidification of a fused metal, for example a CoCrAlY alloy, which has been poured into a molding shell, by moving the molding shell out of a heating chamber and by immersing the molding shell in a liquid-metal bath serving as a cooling melt with a lower melting-point than the fused metal in the molding shell, for example tin. The liquid-metal bath is enclosed by several current carrying toroidal coils arranged coaxially relative to one another. For the purpose of orienting the stream filament of the agitated fused metal one or more guide plates are arranged in the space between the lateral circumferential surface of the molding shell and the inner wall of the shell containing the liquid-metal bath which is located opposite the molding shell.

Device for directional solidification of a fused metal which has been poured into a moulding shell and a process for this purpose

In a casting furnace employing a liquid metal bath to allow directional solidification of an article from a melt, and a method of operating such a furnace, a system is provided for lowering the mold from within a heating chamber into a liquid metal bath situated immediately beneath the heating chamber. An automated system is provided for automatically maintaining the level of the liquid metal bath at a relatively constant position immediately beneath the heating chamber, wherein simultaneously upon the level of the bath having risen due to immersion of the mold within the bath, the bath is lowered to thereby permit the level of the liquid metal bath to be maintained in a substantially fixed position.

Liquid metal bath furnace and casting method

During the simultaneous casting and directional solidification of several castings in pre-heated casting moulds (11), these standing around a central cavity (H) on a ring-shaped cooling plate (5) after pouring off are continuously removed from a heating chamber (14) by a vertical movement relative to the heating chamber in accordance with the solidification temperature and the castings are cooled by heat radiation to below the solidus temperature. In order to increase the production rate and the product quality, the casting moulds (11) are moved over a firm heat sink (9) during the directional solidification by continuous relative movement of the cooling plate (5), said heat sink thereby penetrating into the cavity (H).

Process and device for simultaneous casting and directional

A furnace chamber (2) has a lock (14) provided with two sealing plates (18, 22), a melting furnace (3), and a casting mold carrier (25), which can be moved horizontally through the lock (14) in the horizontal direction into a casting position (34) in the furnace chamber. An outer sealing plate (22) is mounted on a first truck (21), carrying a first rail segment (23) for a second truck (24) on the other side of the sealing plate (22), the casting mold carrier (25) being mounted on this second truck. A horizontal drive (27) is used to move the second truck (24) with respect to the first (21), and in the interior of the furnace chamber (2) there is a second rail segment (32) to which the casting mold carrier (25) is transferred from the first rail segment (23). A heating chamber (8) can be raised and lowered above the casting position (34) in the furnace chamber, which is equipped with a filling hole (12) and with heating elements (35, 36, 37). The heating chamber can be lowered over the casting mold (26) and the casting mold carrier (25).

Precision casting system with lock

An induction furnace with a crucible having a crucible axis, an induction coil and a furnace body containing a gas-tight jacket, and also with a cover which can be placed on the furnace body and has at least one gas connection, a charging valve and a pouring apparatus, the furnace body and cover being joined together releasably but hermetically by a flange connection, and being journaled in the joined state in a furnace frame by a tilting mechanism which engages the cover, and after the flange connection is separated the cover body can be removed from the furnace body which remains in the furnace frame.
