A hinge for use in a piece of furniture includes a casing adapted for attachment to a door of the piece of furniture and having a bottom provided with a bump, and a support member for attachment to a wall of the piece of furniture and including at least one bearing insert projecting into the casing for defining at least one joint connection between the support member and the casing. In the area of the joint connection, the bearing insert includes a peripheral cam which cooperates with a closing and locking member in form of a flat spring during opening motion of the hinge. The flat spring is located the area of the casing bottom, approximately parallel thereto, with the central area of the flat spring being supported by the bump of the casing bottom.

A furniture hinge for two housing parts has a housing mounted on one furniture part, a hinge arm mounted on the other furniture part, two pivotable hinge plates pivotally connecting the housing with the hinge arm, a spring which forms a locking device, a cylinder-and-piston unit having a piston pivotally mounted on the hinge arm and a brake cylinder slidably movable relative to the piston under the action of a cam lever mounted on one of the hinge plates and arranged to move the brake cylinder relative to the piston, wherein the sliding surface of the brake cylinder and/or the piston has a friction-increasing coating.

A furniture hinge has a hollow housing connectable with one part of furniture, a hinge arm connectable with another part of furniture, at least two links extending between and pivotally connecting the hinge arm with the housing of which one link is pivotal relative to the housing, and at least two link pins each having a curved portion and a straight portion wherein the curved portions of the link pins support the one link for pivoting relative to the housing, and the straight portions of the link pins extend through the interior of the housing.
