An anesthetics monitoring device includes an anesthetic vaporizer, from which the anesthetic can be supplied to a setting device supplying dosed amounts of anesthetic to an anesthetics device for dispensing the anesthesia to a patient. The device has a coding for the unmistakable assignment of the setting device to the type of anesthetic used. An automatic recognition of the anesthetic used and a setting to a metering and control unit for dispersing the anesthetic is guaranteed. Any incorrect metering and incorrect setting is prevented. For this purpose, the coding is brought into an operative connection with a receiver provided between the setting device and the anesthetics dispersing device. The receiver is equipped with a scanning apparatus which is connected to the metering and control dispensing unit by means of signal transfer lines.

Coding for an anesthetics device

An overflow trap on a reservoir for liquid anesthetics with at least one inlet conduit for filling and an overflow conduit for overflow which both open at its side wall. The entering of anesthetic liquid from a feed tank through the inlet and the overflow of anesthetic due to shifts or rocking of the liquid level is prevented. For this purpose, the inlet conduit and the overflow conduit are slanted toward the bottom of the reservoir and they have openings close to a wall of the reservoir which is opposite to the inlet and the overflow openings of the conduits.

Overflow trap for anesthetics

In anaesthetics evaporators, the gas flow conducted through them is enriched with an anaesthetic contained in the evaporator to a desired concentration. In the anaesthetics evaporator the gas flow is divided into two part flows, the by-pass flow and the evaporating chamber flow. Both part flows are regulated by valves and regulators to obtain an exact relative flow ratio. To achieve this, this ratio must be maintained and monitored. The monitoring equipment is simple and can be retrofitted. It includes a differential pressure measuring instrument and a thermometer with a holder. The differential pressure measuring instrument is a differential pressure manometer connected via hoses and an adapter to both the inlet and outlet of the gas flow to the anaesthetics units. The thermometer to measure the evaporating temperature is fastened in well heat conducting manner to the anaesthetics evaporator by means of a holder. Temperature and differential pressure changes between inlet and outlet of the gas flow upstream and downstream of the evaporator would indicate possible changes in the part flow ratios relative to each other.
