A tackifier comprising a resin with repeating units of formula (I) wherein Ris a linear or branched alkylen group with 1 to 10 carbon atoms and Ris a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group with up to 20 carbon atoms and a non-aromatic compound which consists to at least 50% by weight of one or more linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon groups with at least 4 carbon atoms.

Process for the preparation of a mono-N-alkylpiperazine of the formula I in which Ris C- to C-alkyl or 2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethyl,by reacting diethanolamine (DEOA) of the formula II with a primary amine of the formula HN&#x2014;R(III) in the presence of hydrogen and a supported, metal-containing catalyst, where the catalytically active mass of the catalyst, prior to its reduction with hydrogen, comprises oxygen-containing compounds of aluminum, copper, nickel and cobalt and, in the range from 0.2 to 5.0% by weight, oxygen-containing compounds of tin, calculated as SnO, and the reaction is carried out in the liquid phase at an absolute pressure in the range from 95 to 145 bar.

Process for the preparation of a mono-N-alkypiperazine

There is now provided a solvent cement having a total of less than 80 weight percent of solvents and a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer as at least one of the resins dissolved in the solvent. The solvent mixture contains at least a 5- or 6-membered water miscible lactone or lactam such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) in an amount of 21 weight percent or less based on the weight of all the ingredients. The reduced solvent concentration assists in lowering VOC emissions while preserving the hydrostatic burst strength mechanical property required by ASTM D 2564-88.
