A system and method are disclosed for switching a data flow of information packets intended for paths between a respective sending and receiving entity, the method includes buffering the packets from the paths in a queue; halting a sending entity on congestion of the queue; storing the halt condition in a switch state; noting the individual portions that different of the paths occupy in the queue; halting the sending entity for the path occupying the individually greatest portion of the queue; storing the halted path in a free one of the switch states including storing its bandwidth; successively updating the respective bandwidth of halted paths as the queue is repeatedly congested; determining an older part of the states; and purging the state for a path having the smallest bandwidth in said older part of the states.

Method and arrangement in a packet switch

A central unit for a multi-carrier system receives both multi-carrier and single carrier signals. The single carrier wave is a carrier wave that is part of the multi-carrier system for which the central unit is designed. The central unit schedules transmission from the single-carrier equipment in interaction with the single-carrier equipment.

Device for narrow-band communication in a multi-carrier system

A semiconductor arrangement is provided for generating a predetermined time delay. Two clocks are connected to two parallel, redundant semi-conductor circuits emitting clock signals from multiplexers. The redundant circuits receive delayed clock signals from one of the clocks, and from the other clock, clock signals that are delayed in adjustable delay circuits to be phased in with the clock signals from the first clock. A number of delay elements and a first reference number of delay elements, providing a predetermined delay time, are connected in a reference delay circuit. A quotient of the two numbers is stored. One of the semi-conductor circuits is replaced by an alternative semi-conductor circuit, the reference delay circuit of which is set on the predetermined delay time, corresponding to a second reference number of delay elements. An adjustable delay circuit is set on the same delay time as the replaced semi-conductor circuit by means of the second reference number and the quotient.

Apparatus and method for generating a predetermined time delay in a semiconductor circuit

In a WLAN where an AP and MTs use a duplex airlink having a MAC frame structure to communicate with each other, the AP places wakeup PDUs at different locations in a MAC frame to allow the MTs to conserve energy by maximizing sleep time. In other embodiments, the wakeup PDUs are sequenced by MAC-ID so that a MT can conclusively determine whether remaining wakeup PDUs in a sequence can contain its MAC-ID, and go to sleep early if they cannot. In another embodiment, a wakeup PDU type can indicate to a corresponding MT whether the MT can expect downlink data later in the same MAC frame. In addition, the wakeup PDU type can indicate to the MT that the MAC frame that it should awaken and remain awake to receive downlink data in the future.

Method to put a mobile terminal into sleep when a frame control channel containing a location of slow broadcast channel does not include wakeup information

In a mobile communications system that provides packet data services, a packet data connection is established between a mobile station and a radio access network. The state of the connection specifies one of plural different types of radio channels bearing the connection over the radio interface. The connection state preferably also may specify other parameters including for example, one of plural different mobility management schemes tailored to the selected channel type or channel bit rate(s). The connection is dynamically adapted to an optimal state based on one or more conditions relating to the connection. For example, one or more traffic parameters are determined for the connection and used to predict a future value of that parameter. Based on the predicted parameter value or values, an optimal connection state is determined and implemented. If the traffic parameter value changes later in the connection, another connection state may be dynamically selected that is better suited in accordance with the newly predicted parameter.

Method and apparatus for dynamically adapting a connection state in a mobile communications system

A system provides control information from a control system to a number of control stores in a switch. The system includes a control point which receives control information for distribution to predetermined control stores. The control information for a point-to-point connection includes a first control code C and a second control code C . The system further includes a first link providing the first control code C to a first control store, a number of selectively active links, each of which provides, when active, the second control code C from the control point to a respective further control store, and circuitry for activating one of the selectively active links in response to the first control code C

Single point writing of control information

A buffering technique handles dynamic and static phase deviations between signals from at least two redundant planes. Dynamic phase deviations between planes are handled in a first buffer and static phase deviations between planes are handled in a second buffer. A register arrangement is provided in which is stored information relating to a first difference between read and write pointers for a plane of the second buffer, and information relating to the current difference between the read and write pointers of the same plane in the static buffer is stored after a reload operation. The first and current differences are compared to provide a control signal which is used for the next reload operation in the dynamic buffer which is controlled by the control signal to avoid end of buffer in the second buffer if the difference between the first and the current differences exceeds a given number of positions.

Arrangement and method relating to a telecommunications system handling redundant signals

A fault tolerant processing system includes at least two processing planes. Each processing plane processes an input signal and generates an output signal. The system further includes plane termination logic for receiving the output signals of the processing planes to generate a non-redundant output signal. Each processing plane is provided with devices for detecting a fault in the plane, and devices for substituting, in response to detection of a fault in the plane, a signal component, referred to as control component, representing a predetermined logical state for each one of those components of the processed input signal that are affected by the detected fault. Furthermore, the plane termination logic includes devices for performing logical operations on the output signals of the planes such that, in the generation of the non-redundant output signal, unaffected signal components of a received signal override corresponding control components of another received signal.

Methods and apparatus for dynamically isolating fault conditions in a fault tolerant multi-processing environment

In a general switch, a word oriented switch and a bit oriented switch are connected such that a common input signal included data appearing in time slots is provided to both switches. The general switch further includes a device for establishing, for each one of a number of outgoing time slots, at least one of a first connection path through the word oriented switch and a second connection through the bit oriented switch, and a device for selecting, for each outgoing time slot, data from an established one of the connection path. For each outgoing time slot, only one of the connection paths is established and the selecting device selects data from the established connection path.

General switch and a switching method

In a mobile communications system that provides packet data services, a packet data connection is established between a mobile station and a radio access network. The state of the connection is used to specify one of plural different types of radio channels bearing the connection over the radio interface. The connection state preferably also may specify other parameters including, for example, one of plural different mobility management schemes tailored to the selected channel type or channel bit rate(s). The connection is dynamically adapted to an optimal state based on one or more conditions relating to the connection. For example, one or more traffic parameters are determined for the connection and may be used to predict a future value of that parameter. Based on the predicted parameter value or values, an optimal connection state is determined and implemented. If the predicted parameter value changes later in the connection, another connection state may be dynamically selected that is better suited in accordance with the newly predicted parameter value. One example embodiment is based on the amount of data in queue for a packet data connection. Comparison is made with one or more thresholds to decide which type of radio channel should bear the connection. Other factors, parameters, and conditions may be employed along with threshold comparisons to select the optimal radio channel type.

The invention relates to a method and device for switching user data, belonging to a connection, between different time slots in a switch or a switch stage such that sequence and frame integrity are preserved. According to the invention, an efficient algorithm is utilized for determining distribution information, in form of storage positions in one or more control memories in the switch. User data is caused to be switched, according to this distribution information from the algorithm, such that these user data maintain the same reciprocal time order through the switch or switch stage. The distribution information determined by the algorithm assures sequence integrity and at the same time minimizes the delay of user data through the switch and/or switch stage. The algorithm also generates control information in form of delay values for delaying some user data such that data belonging to incoming time slots in one and the same frame are assigned to outgoing time slots in the same frame.

Establishing telecommunication connections

Sequence integrity and frame integrity are preserved in switching wideband connections through a switch or a switch stage. The speech memory in a switch stage in the switch is extended to include storage positions that in number correspond to the number of time slots in two frames. These storage positions are arranged into two parts of the same size in the speech memory. Furthermore, there is provided a delay control unit in the time switch stage for generating delay information based on control information in the control memory of the switch stage and a determined part of the counter information from a time slot counter circuit. This delay information controls, for each time slot, to/from (depending on if the speech memory is arranged in an outgoing stage or an incoming stage) which one of the first and second parts of the speech memory that user data is switched.
