A filling machine configured to form, fill, and seal individual packages is provided. The filling machine comprises a sterilization station configured to provide a flow of gaseous sterilizing agent towards open ends of ready-to-fill packaging containers passing through said sterilization station. The filling machine comprises at least one clean air supply and at least one baffle plate arranged above the at least one clean air supply, wherein the air supply is configured to direct a stream of clean air towards the ready-to-fill packaging containers. The clean air supply in turn comprises at least one distribution pipe and wherein the distribution pipe extends in a horizontal direction, the horizontal direction being in the direction of the flow of packages through the filling machine.

Filling machine with a sterilization station

A filling machine configured to form, fill, and seal individual packages is provided. The filling machine comprises a disinfection station and a hygienic chamber downstream the disinfection station, which hygienic chamber is configured to reduce the risk for re-contamination of the packages after passing the disinfection station. An inner hygienic zone is formed inside the hygienic chamber, whereby a positive air flow is established from the inner hygienic zone to the hygienic chamber outside the inner hygienic zone.

A method and a device for maintaining, in a filling machine, a gas flow barrier between two volumes of a channel, wherein the channel is used for transportation of packages in a length direction thereof, and the volumes comprise a first volume having a first degree of sterilization and a second volume having a second degree of sterilization, and wherein the first volume comprises a gas injection mechanism, the second volume comprises a gas evacuation mechanism, and the first and the second volume meet in an interface area extending in a length direction of the channel. The method comprises arranging, divergent jets flowing from the gas injection mechanism such that the divergent jets of gas cooperate in the interface region for the generation of a unidirectional flow in the direction from the first volume towards the second volume in the interface area, and thus forming a gas flow barrier.

Device and a method for maintaining a gas flow barrier between two interconnected volumes

A device for sterilization of packages and a method of sterilizing packages are provided. The device comprises a gassing zone for exposing the packages to a gaseous sterilization agent, inlet mechanisms for introducing the gaseous sterilization agent into the gassing zone and a conveyor for transporting the packages through the gassing zone in a transport direction. The device also includes a separation mechanism arranged inside the gassing zone to divide at least an upper part of the gassing zone into sub gassing zones, each of said separation mechanisms having an opening for passage of the packages, each of at least a number of the inlet mechanisms being arranged to provide a flow of the gaseous sterilization agent at the opening of a respective one of the separation mechanisms.

Device and a method for sterilization of packages

An apparatus and a method of supplying gas or a gas mixture to the inside of partly formed packages in a filling machine before a subsequent filling and sealing of the packages involves supplying the gas or gas mixture as at least one flow into the package via an opening in the package. The supply is made such that the at least one flow flows into the package to the inner region of the package and thereafter returns back through the opening. The method also involves temporarily catching the return flow from the package in a delimited space outside the opening, and directing the return flow out from the space in such a way that a substantially vertical flow along the outer envelope surface of the package is formed.

Method and an apparatus for sterilising packages

A method and apparatus for supplying a gas or gas mixture to the inside of partly formed packages which are ready-to-fill, before a subsequent filling and sealing of the packages in a filling machine. The method involves supplying the gas or gas mixture at any given moment as a flow which is radially outwardly and inwardly defined in relation to the inner wall of the package, with the flow being angled with respect to the geometric major longitudinal axis of the package which intersects its opening so that the flow, since it is defined by the inner wall of the package, is positively controlled for the formation of a helical flow vortex.

A rotation-symmetric ultrasound horn for producing a circular seal to effect liquid-tight joining together of, for example, packaging container parts. The ultrasound horn is connected to an ultrasound source which supplies the horn axially via a supply end. The horn displays an opposing, tubular working end with a circular work surface. The mean diameter of the tubular part varies along the axis of the horn so that the horn, in the region of the work surface, is of greater mean diameter and cross-sectional area than in a region located between the work surface and the supply end of the horn. As a result of this design and construction, the initially axial ultrasound waves are given a radial component of sufficient amplitude to achieve welding of thermoplastic material along the circular work surface of the horn.
