A vehicle network for a plurality of interconnected vehicles is disclosed. The network is in the form of a WLAN and has at least two access points. The access points are interconnected in a wireless manner, i.e., without using a wired backbone. Each access point uses the same radio network ID, so all access points form only one single visible network for WLAN clients. A method for establishing the vehicle network is also disclosed.

A method for controlling functions of a vehicle by a remote control unit is provided herein. Signals are transmitted wirelessly between the remote control unit and a station in the vehicle. A data transmission rate depends on a distance between the remote control unit and the station. The data transmission rate is specified. If the data transmission rate is below a defined limit value, the vehicle functions to be controlled are no longer performed or are performed to a restricted extent only and/or the remote control unit emits warning signals.

Method and system for controlling vehicle functions

A system for transferring data from a wireless network of a vehicle includes a first station for covering a first wireless network, which is secured by encryption and a mobile device. The mobile device is configured for connecting to the first wireless network and to a second wireless network. The first station is provided in the vehicle, wherein access data for connecting to the two wireless networks is available in the mobile device. In the vehicle, data are available, which are transmitted from the first station to the mobile device, and from there to the second station.

A method for authorization in a wireless vehicle network is disclosed. In particular, the method is for authorizing communication between a mobile communications unit and a vehicle-based communications unit assigned to a control unit in a vehicle, wherein there is an unauthorized connection between the mobile communications unit and the vehicle-based communications unit. In the method, the mobile unit sends to the vehicle-based unit a request to authorize communication. Thereupon, the vehicle-based unit sends to the mobile unit from which the request came, an instruction to perform an action on the vehicle. An operator who has access to the mobile unit and to the vehicle performs the action. The control unit detects the performed action. The vehicle-based unit authorizes communication with the mobile unit.

Method for authorization in a wireless vehicle network

A method is disclosed for establishing and operating a wireless network with a first communication unit, a second communication unit and a mobile communication unit. The first and second communication units are configured in each case as a server and the mobile communication unit is configured as a client. The mobile communication unit acquires connection set-up data of the first and second communication units. A wireless connection is established from the mobile communication unit to the first communication unit. The latter receives an instruction from the mobile communication unit via the wireless connection for configuration as a client of the second communication unit and the mobile communication unit transfers the connection set-up data of the second communication unit to the first communication unit. A wireless connection is then established from the mobile communication unit to the second communication unit.
